So They Are well on their way

"You matter a lot to us, so much to us. Until you don't matter to us anymore." Not surprised the bad habits from Alabama came with Smart. We've got a spot to fill at RB. Maybe we should pick up the phone.

I read that as him spending time in the role of a trainer, not an assistant. I would assume that just playing football wouldn't satisfy that requirement any more than being a student would satisfy requirements to be a teacher.

Yeah, except here the difference is:

Student - *works out, studies game film*
Trainer - "Hey, everybody watch how I do this." *works out, studies game film*

It says something when you major in Athletic Training at uGA and can't make academic all-American.

Seriously, Cubb's major is "Athletic Training." From their website:

So spending 25 hours / week playing football is now a major at uGA. How, the öööö, is this allowed?

I would think a massage parlor would count as either a physical therapy clinic, other clinical site or both.

Student: Spot me while I do 10 reps bench press
Trainer: Now I'll spot you.

In reality, an "Athletic Training" program probably involves instruction on proper exercise techniques. Demonstrating those techniques are certainly part of the class. So he's getting credit to work out.

Meanwhile our players are solving the Schrodinger Wave Equation in a Quantum Mechanics class.

Business management has gotten so complicated.

Athletic Trainers are the guys on the sideline who come out during injuries, they are not like personal trainers. They help with stretching players and rehabbing injuries.

He pretty much instantly committed to Texas afterwards.

At Tech - yes, much more complicated at other schools. Tech Business majors use Calculus to derive inventory optimization equations, then program Excel to run linear optimization models from that equation. At other schools, the Business majors plug in numbers to the already solved model and use algebra to solve for an unknown.

Why does Tech teach like that? Because solving programs from first principals (which is the pervasive educational model at Tech) allows you to understand the assumptions that go into the model and make you a better problem solver.

Yada yada, quantum mechanics.

You really do not know what a team sport athletic trainer does?

Maybe we should have a math prof doing rehab on our S/As?

I thought Schroeder was the kid who played the piano in 'Peanuts'?

"“We understand that Nick and Sony wanted to come back and play their senior season for whatever reason; we’re not mad at them,” Byron Carter said. "

For whatever reason. Man, college football is really ööööed up when someone can say something like that and not even see what is wrong with it.

I feel bad for Toenail. What a terrible name.
Why have Chubb and Michel not colored enough books in three years to already have their UGAg degrees should be the question on everyone's mind.

Google: UNC + NCAA

I dont get why Chubb and Michel came back. NFL running backs are a dime a dozen and have a short career so any RB with a chance to make a roster needs to leave for the NFL as soon as eligible to give them the best chance to get that 2nd contract where the real money is made. Even one extra year of mileage can be the difference between a 2nd contract or not.

This was handled on another thread.

I take it that you've never actually taken any business classes at Tech.

I'm sure even if there is calc in the business classes, the athletic tutors turn it into paint by numbers. "OK, you need to take the derivative. That means you take the little number up top, put it in front, then subtract one from it. Yes... good job."

Not to diminish the players' accomplishments. I'm sure the players have to put in way more mental effort than at other schools. But from everything I've heard GT's academics are dumbed-down for athletes
