How would explain Baylor's rise to football prominence under pretty much the same type of religious restrictions?
http://www.baylor.edu/student_policies/index.php?id=32256
Baylor doesn't ban coffee or tea.
Baylor doesn't ban pre-marital sex.
Baylor doesn't have the same insane dress code.
Baylor doesn't ban tobacco.
Baylor doesn't enforce opposite sex visitation hours.
Baylor doesn't ban profanity.
It does have some of BYU's insane restrictions (homosexuality, alcohol, pornography).
Baylor also doesn't have other various issues like magic underwear.
That being said ... Baylor is still absolutely AWFUL.
Zero national championships.
Only two ten win seasons EVER.
A .502 all time winning percentage.... if it wasn't for RG3 they would have lost more games than they would have won all time.
Only 7 conference titles all time ... most of them in the SWC.
Zero Big 12 titles.
Baylor is not some model for GT or some blueprint for overcoming stupid and pointless restrictions that implode an athletics program. Like BYU, it is a case study in what happens if you replace The Hill with a bunch of bible thumpers with an even stronger disconnect from reality and the competitive world.
In case you think Art Briles is some mastermind, his record there is 4-8, 4-8, 7-6, 10-3, 8-5. One good season when given a Heisman trophy winner.
