Something needs to be done about our oline.

Cord Howard got hurt and didnt come back. Also AJ Smith got hurt but then again he does get hurt everygame. So we had to put in Jason Hill and Clyde Yandell. Also it was reported that Vance Walker was limping after the game.
Howard had a concussion, Smith is always hurt. yandell was horrible there is a reason he hasn't seen the field this year.

"Mr. Madison, what you have just said, is the most insanely idiotic thing I have ever heard. At no point, in your rambling incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul."

WTGW, okay, Gardner gets the surgery now so that he can be ready for pre-draft workouts, so he can be a first day pick, or he continues this season and then has surgery, so he is at best a 2nd day selection -- do you understand the financial impact you are asking him to sacrifice??? To play at less than 100% and still lose potential millions of dollars. Sorry. I am not at all looking at Gardner with anything other than gratitude for how he has played prior to his surgery. Gardner, if you are reading this MB, good luck to you and thank you for your hard work.

I for one, am seriously disappointed in Mr. Gardner. Why did he quit on his team? I could be wrong, and If I am I'm sorry, but it was made clear in the paper and on CPJ's radio show that his surgery could have been put off until after the UGA game, but he wanted to do it now so he'd be ready for the draft. IMO, this is effectively telling his teammates, "I'm looking out for #1 here - forget all that team stuff." We sure coulda used our most experienced O lineman today...

you're an idiot

How come this year we have had approximately 8,234,912 injuries to our O-Line?

The QB's have been injured, wide-outs have missed games.

Lots of runners have been injured.

Only the tight-end has been healthy all year - because there is no tight-end.

What's up with this?

Yeah it would have been nice to have Gardner but you cant really blame him for making that decision.

If we can finish out the year with at least one more win I think we have done pretty darn well given our O-line issues. How many O-line commits do we have so far? And how many are we looking to recruit?

Our offense will be scary prolific if we get a good o-line. I would be crapping my pants if I was on defense against our offense with a good o-line.

First of all...that is not copmletely true.

Roddy Jones, Lucas Cox, and J Dwyer have been healthy all year.

I definitely think this team is having to get used to being more physical. The lack of physical play was glaring in some games over the past few years...and I personally think it is a reason UGA is stuggling comparative to their talent level this year.

I think this is a oney year transtion effect.

I agree.

Maybe 1 more.

Plus we're holding some guys back to redshirt that will probably start next year.

This is why I like Paul Johnson. He knows our O-line is in bad shape, but rather then burn the redshirts from some real good looking guys, he's going to make due with what he has and next year and the year after that, we'll be better off for it. I wish Gailey had done the same thing with Nesbitt.

Is this really fair to this year's seniors, though, to essentially throw in the towel on this season for the sake of having a monster team down the road? What do you say to them: Sorry dudes, but I'm using your senior year as training time for the real team in a couple years.

The O-line performance just keeps getting worse and worse, and it's really confirming something I believed early on this year: That many of these O-linemen are just biding their time until they can graduate and get the heck out of here.

I think a lot of these guys haven't really bought into PJ's offense (despite what they've said), but at the same time, they aren't so disgruntled that they are willing to transfer like one guy did. They know they've got a pretty good thing going here: a free education at a place where they can get a well-respected degree.

So why ruin all that by recklessly transferring somewhere else. Better to just keep your mouth shut and go through the motions. But going through the motions doesn't mean you have to really "buy into" the offense, or put any extra effort into excelling.

After all, it's hard enough work just going through the motions. It's even harder to actually do it right. Let's say they're putting in 20% of the effort they're capable of and getting about 80% efficiency in results. To get that extra 20% efficiency, it's going to take 80% more effort.

The closer you get to perfection, the higher amount of effort (and intensity, and concentration) it takes, just to get an incrementally smaller fraction of results. It's just not worth it to these guys.

Yeah, we need an o-line really bad. Chan recruited to have people stand up and get in the way. Paul's offense needs people that can bone up and knock people down. It may take a couple of years of recruiting to get CPJ's offense in place.

The flip side of this is to put those guys in, and burn a year off of their eligibility for maybe another win. You're taking away from those kids. I do feel for the seniors on this team, but I feel more the seniors from the last fours years that never knew what it was like to beat Georgia. No matter what happens in the next month, this has been a special season with the success we've had.

I wonder if a similar thing happened with Saban vs. Shula at Alabama. Alabama is ranked #1 due to the most physical LOS play out there. He was 6-6 last year and increased injuries may have partly caused that.

Who said life was fair? PJ is the coach and he knows what he is doing. And for sure, he isn't throwing in the towel on this season. You can take that to the bank.

And maybe not another win. They are freshmen after all.

Next year our OL will be better. We should be happy we've got a week and a half before Miami, and a week and a half before Georgia, and a while before our bowl. Then we've got a year to train our OL to play the way we want them. We'll be fine.

We need to find some O-linemen who want to put on a white and gold uniform and play football for the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Our O line should be much deeper and much better next year.

We lose 3 seniors this year. We bring in 3 redshirt freshman for next year. Unless you are counting on 2009 recruits to make us deeper i am not sure where you got this. And wouldn't that just be repeating this years action of "high schoolers vs. real football players"?

How about this? Maybe our o-linemen just aren't very good. Gailey did a horrible job recruiting o-linemen and our last OL coach sucked. One of our starting tackles was an undersized DT and the other was a TE until mid-way through fall practice, but they're actually better than the interior lineman we have. What does that tell you?

I don't exactly know why anyone would think that we're holding back anyone on offense. We already have three true freshman playing on offense. If we had some super-stud o-line true freshman, he'd be playing right now.
