Something needs to be done about our oline.

We rushed for nearly 325 yards yesterday behind a broken and wounded OL. Can someone tell me why we're dissing these guys so badly?

Yes, they've struggled at times getting the system, but they seem to have gotten it pretty well since the UVA game. FSU (288) and UNC (324) have both been solid rushing days against good D's. The OL didn't lose that game for us yesterday.

We need to find some O-linemen who want to put on a white and gold uniform and play football for the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Not as much as we just need to find some kids who understand how to be physical on every play, get up, and do it again. We have years of an ingrained Gailey mentality of football is an every other down sport. Our guys don't know how too smack people in the mouth because anytime in the past that these kids have been in a dog fight, they just rolled over. That was the essence of Gailey teams. If we couldn't out perform them and we were actually required to fight, forget it.

It will take a year at least to get this attitude out of our players.

how about the o-line just sucks and shut up and deal with it
they do a decent job of blocking but they arn't going to be spectacular, and nothing is going to drastically change this in the miami or ugay game im sorry but thats how it is.
Next year we get 3 redshirt freshmen...now I don't know if this will have a big impact on making us better and to be honest I think it will be 2010 or 2011 before we see this offense really clicking...or by 2011 defenses will have it down pact and it will be worthless....and then we will be wanting a new coach....LIKE TIM BREWSTER!

I'll agree that the O-line didn't lose the game for us in its' entirety, but it certainly played a large role. How many third or fourth and short plays were we stuffed on yesterday? Why did Nesbitt have to roll out on every single pass play? The (albeit depleted) O-line was not only failing to get a decent push most of the time, but it was also not protecting the quarterback when they were asked to do so.

Really? Really? I think we need a new classification of fans. Please tell me I'm missing the sarcasm here.

Fans of schools. GT fans, vol fans, tarholes, duke fans. I.e. "Hi, I'm Bubba Ray Billy Ray Webtoe Tereshinski, and I'm a DAWG fan."

Fans of firing coaches. i.e. "Hi, I'm <internet message board poster> and I'm a fan of firing whoever is the head coach of school X."

Some people really would be happier if they got their school to fire a new coach every year. You wouldn't be happy with 2 national championships in ten years. You'd say "darn that peter eater Carrol, he lost to Oregon state again. Let's fire him and hire Norm Chow. We aren't any good without Norm Chow. He's the reason we won." Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Let's face it. If you want Paul Johnson gone before year one is over, you enjoy firing coaches more than you do pulling for Tech.

How about this? Maybe our o-linemen just aren't very good. Gailey did a horrible job recruiting o-linemen and our last OL coach sucked. One of our starting tackles was an undersized DT and the other was a TE until mid-way through fall practice, but they're actually better than the interior lineman we have. What does that tell you?

I don't exactly know why anyone would think that we're holding back anyone on offense. We already have three true freshman playing on offense. If we had some super-stud o-line true freshman, he'd be playing right now.

That the freshmen are already playing over the seniors is an indication that losing the seniors isn't going to hurt our depth, wouldn't you agree?

Call me crazy, but isn't Uzzi is being redshirted? He'll start over some of our returning guys next year. Plus we're bringing in 4 more, possibly 5, OLs with this class.

So it sounds to me like we're losing nobody (since they're not starting anyway) and gaining 7 or 8, of which we know one or two will be better than who we have now, and all the ones we do have now will get better.

We will get better on OL.

We could have Art Shell, John Hannah, John Davis (:D), Orlando Pace, and Mike Webster blocking and it won't make a damn bit of difference if we keep giving the other team the ball.

Its a miracle we've won 7 games as many times as we've turned the ball over.
