Something to think about?

No boss, he's a senior in high school with apparently way too much free time.
Like I said, finding old posts doesn't take much time at all all I did was type in recruiting in the search field and I found this thread.

Fishing for old posts is often enlightening. We should not shun our past, but rather embrace it.

Bad news, BJ. Gina Torres is coming after you, and she's pissed at being snubbed.

I gotta say, I do enjoy a tall glass of chocolate milk on occasion. Just never heard one called "brunette" necessarily, since that's usually a foregone conclusion.

I'd take Gina. I suppose I'd take Summer Glau too

..but she's definitely 4th on the list. Hips are too narrow. No guarantee she could take everything I could give. *cough*

Jewel is definitely my preference of all the Firefly girls.

I just love this thread

I just love this thread. Because it absolutely REEKS of all the stale old excuses we used to hear for why we were unable or unwilling to recruit many blue-chip players (4-star +).

Folks, there are some absolute GEMS in this thread. Let's have a look, shall we?

ncjacket:
Everybody wants the 4/5 star kids, but the odds of Tech ever getting very many is slim IMO. ... The truth is many of those kids just want to play football and aren't ready for a school like Tech.

refrigeratormover:
half of those guys would flunk out at Tech. And the other half are a bunch of thugs.

GTDean:
Then let me know how many of the players that go to those schools would be allowed to visit on an offical visit to GT.

ncjacket:
Unless we add some crip majors and drop one of the math requirements we will never be able to recruit the kids you seem to be talking about.

EXCUSES!! All we ever heard were excuses. And now, after much question-asking by people like the originator of this thread, and quite frankly, by people like me, we are on the eve of the signing of one of the most highly-touted classes in Tech's history.

Yes, we WENT toe-to-toe with the football factories this year in recruiting, and we are up there with the best of them... in a year that we can't even sign our full allotment.

Yet, when people in the past asked these types of questions, they were vilified, reviled, trashed, and spat upon. Why? Why couldn't this legitimate question be asked then?

A few years ago, on this board, I warned that our recruiting class did not seem to be shaping up to be comparable to the rest of the ACC. I stated that we appeared to be rivaling Duke for last place in the ACC. I was kicked off the board before the results were in, but in the meantime, I was told that we NEVER finished below Duke. That we would NEVER do that bad. ... But then we did. We actually finished worse than Duke in recruiting.

Yet, afterward, not one single person on this board ever mentioned... Hmm, you know what, that ole Bunger might have been right about at least one thing... Hmm, maybe we shoulda taken his words a little more seriously...

Folks. Some of you guys have ZERO credibility. ZEEE-ROWW!! You will praise anything just for the sake of praising. You are never willing to honestly criticize when something looks bad. "Wouldn't be pru-dent." You are like the worst kind of yes-men. Always nodding along in agreement with whatever goes on in the front office.

I hope we sign this full slate of blue-chippers next week, and I hope some of you doubters will take a more honest approach from now on... after you finish chipping all that dried egg off your faces.

Whoever dragged this gem out of the cellar, THANKS! This was simply priceless.

Those recruiting classes that you doubted ended up being better than 10 teams in the ACC this past year. It sure helped Duke to out recruit us didn't it? It takes three to four years before you can accurately assess this or any class. So go back in your bunghole and simmer in your anger until then. For all you know at this point, Mover and NC could very well be correct and half this class doesn't make the grades.

Ahhhh, the old bh has come alive. You must have gotten a free pass for a day.

You must be bored with your other board to have come over here. How's OFart doing these days?

Please give us some more of your insight to Tech athletics, i'm waiting in anticipation.

"Wouldn't be pru-dent." You are like the worst kind of naysayer. Always shaking your head in disagreement with whatever goes on in the front office.

Doesn't this recruiting class poke BIG holes in your constant "Gailey sucks" mantra?

Re: I just love this thread

BH, what Chan and staff has done this year has changed the way many look at our recruiting chances. But most of what was said is still true. The staff has done a much better job of identifying those kids who can and want to do the work in the classroom and get a high percentage to commit to Tech. To their credit they have found the keys to success.

As for you, you are still a bitter, negative poster, with no redeeming value whatsoever.
