Someone on the Southern board is saying that the AJC reported that the game was being moved to 2014 (assuredly to accommodate other "money game" attempts for Southern in 2015). Anyone heard anything about this?

Article is here.

Tech’s other non-conference opponents in 2015 are Georgia, Tulane and, for now, Georgia Southern, all at home. Georgia Southern and Tech have verbally agreed to move their game to 2014, leaving an opening in 2015. The school will look for an FCS opponent to complete the schedule.

So should CPJ be fired if we lose that game? That is if he isn't gone already?

Why? CPJ fielded better teams in his time at Southern than what they will have in 14. If Southern beats GT it will prove Tech is the problem and not CPJ.

Heard that as well. Good to see it's confirmed. It's gunna be tough on deciding who to pull for..

That's the year they join FBS. And the 2015 replacement is going to be FCS. People need to get over it.

First year of FBS but not bowl eligble. Eligible to play for/win Sun Belt championship, though. Just no bowl bid for Eagles.
So that's two years of guaranteed no postseason for Georgia Southern, this year and next. And their final home game this year is right after Halloween.
I foresee a very disappointing 2013 for Southern. Not sure what to make of 2014 yet. When does Southern tee it up with LSU? The Eagles end the year with Florida this season.

Why no postseason in 2013, out of the FCS already?

Basically every transitioning team has one year of no playoffs in FCS and one year of no bowls in FCS. The trigger is announcing your intent to move before or after July 1 (maybe it's June 1?). Since we did it before that date, our "no playoffs" year is this year, and we'd become full FBS members in 2015.

Had we waited until after that date (or not received an invite until after that), we would have been in the playoffs and not been full FBS members until 2016.

I see, do you get a bigger scholarship limit this year then or does that start next year?
