Sportsline "Expert" Opinions

I'm willing to bet big money that the only time these people saw us play this year was against Miami.

I'll go one further and say that the only time most of these people saw us play under PJ period was the LSU bowl game and Miami. Is it really shocking that they think all of this stuff? We need to step up and win to start changing opinions. You only get so many chances a year.

Well no ****. Its no coincidence that we dropped from #13 in the polls to out completely after that loss to Miami.

JJ, there are perfectly good emoticons to indicate that. I'm not a mind reader, I just assume everyone's stupid until I deem otherwise. And its entirely possible to float in and out of my realm of stupid.

Heck, I watched us play all of our games and I would bet on VT if I was forced to. That doesn't mean I won't be rooting for my Jackets. I hope we bust their ass with a double digit win. We need a win in the national spotlight. But I agree with the majority of the analysts.

I think this game is so close that turnover margin wins it.

Why does everyone think that VPI's offense is suddenly amazing? They had two(2) decent drives against Miami. Most of those points came via BeamerBall®. In the following games, when VPI's apparently offense blossomed into a beast of legend, they beat the mighty Duke Blue Devils and a BC team that would be completely drained emotionally from the game against FSU. Now, I know that our defense is atrocious, but we're hurt mostly in the passing game. VPI likes to get their run going, and our run stopping has been mildly decent at times.

On top of that, our offense is not the same as it was against Miami. We weren't stopped by Miami, we stopped ourselves. Most of that seems to be corrected.

A few years back we played a pretty highly ranked VPI team. We weren't expected to win. We decemated them. I'm just saying.

My thoughts exactly. I don't really see much in their analyses that is unreasonable (note I didn't say I didn't see ANYTHING unreasonable or incorrect). I can understand how people can look at the stats of our games, read the articles others have written, view a few highlights, and conclude that we shouldn't be able to hang with VT.

I disagree with their conclusions but it isn't shocking that people still need more proof that we can get the job done against really good teams before believing in us.

I don't know... maybe its because they lead the entire NCAA in scoring offense.

That's right. They are #1.

You're rubbing off on me BOR. Now I can't tell if you're being sarcastic. I hope you are because VPI is 20th in scoring offense (we're 24th, coincidentally).

I agree that there is nothing here to be surprised about. I think we all know this is the best team we have and will play all year. They are ranked #4 and demolished the only common opponent so far which happens to be the one that handed us our only loss. Why should we expect anyone to pick us?

I meant in the ACC. Whoops. I'm going to stay in the circle of dumb for awhile.

I think we're gonna get housed and drop completely out of the rankings again.

Our DT's are ****ing terrible.

We will control the ball, limit Tyrod's time on the field, get ahead and force them to alter their plan and play catch-up. Williams will not have a field day. Field days will belong to Roddy Jones, Emery Peeples, Marcus Wright, Anfernee Allen, and Bebe Thomas. Jon Dwyer will be kept in check until late in the game when Virginia Tech is trailing and taking chances on defense with a squad that is physically, mentally, and emotionally worn down. Dwyer will pick up big yards late in the game, and maybe even a fourth quarter score.
