Spurrier retiring

Is there some standard time period that you've been a season ticket holder where a school just starts giving you all their internal HR ongoings?
Feel free to believe whatever you wish.

Better question, how many message board posts ate required?

USCe is a unique place, with a rabid fanbase, terrific attendance and facilities, and a willingness to hire and fire coaches. They've gone the fresh face route with Brad Scott, and the proven veteran route with Lou and Spurrier, but with little to show for it.

They have one conference championship (ACC) and one division championship...and that's it. Up until the late '70s they had never even been to a bowl game. And yet they keep supporting the program, going through coaches every 4 years. At 10 years, Spurrier was their longest running coach since the '40s. Maybe this time they'll get it right.

If a school didn't go to a bowl until the 70s, then wouldn't having a (relatively) long term coach that brought you multiple 10 and 11 seasons be getting it right?

I'm hoping they hire lane kiffin

Just want to acknowledge Spurrier as one who loved to stick it to the Bulldawgs and their dumb coaching staffs throughout his tenure. In addition to that, a solid HBC.

He was a thorn in our side as a QB at Fla. and Coach at Duke so I would prefer to bury him rather than praise him. Just my take as a lifetime Tech fan that is.

Go Jackets!

Well said Jerry.

Other than the season. How are you?

Can I start a Spurrier to Tech rumor now?

We had that last time around, remember? A thread on TOS hinting at inside sources who knew we were gunning for him and that a jet carrying DRad and co. was en route to Columbus.

Had folks in quite the tizzy.

edit: I say Spurrier comes in and takes over as OC, joining the Fun 'n Gun with the flexbone to create the Fun 'n Gun 'n Run. CPJ devotes his new freedom to more specific focus on correcting the OL and fine tuning the defense. Sewak is fired and replaced with John Davis. Georgia disbands its athletic program and on the way to our first of 5 consecutive national titles we force them to put together a team every year like we did Cumberland just so we can add to their pain.

I was interning at IBM at the time and remember hiding away in the server room all day reading about private jets going to and from Atlanta with a stupid grin on my face.

I still think we are better off with CPJ though, especially given Spurrier's age.

Indeed. The whole ordeal was exciting but nerve-wracking. Oddly enough the guy who didn't have a ton of rumors flying about him between idiots on message boards ended up getting the job.
