His decline has been evident ever since he left Florida. The lowest year he had there was a 9-4 year. Since his time in South Carolina, he's just continued the forever meritocracy of the team.
mediocrity?

Somebody has a man crush!!!:p:pDude...are you wearing a "soft helmet"
Spurrier is one of the best football minds we'll ever see in this lifetime.
He's a helluva coach, albeit he's had a rough time at USC, but his career in general (coach, player, whatever) is one to be respected and honored.
had USC gone better you wouldn't even be speaking....it's not like it's the premier college....and it's damn sure hard to recruit for students to come to the Armpit of the south.
He's basically just got HIM to sway kids...those who truly want to learn will be dumb not to go....but you can't get everyone.
I've actually met with the guy personally. he's a helluva dude and a damn genious when it comes to the game. For God's sake he not only won the heisman, he coached a heisman winner. Not to mention he was an all state baseball and basketball player in HS too.
Spurrier...helluva player, helluva coach, helluva guy and damn fine American

Nope...Not a man crush. But I do respect a person/winner such as himself.
I'd always liked him (even though way back when I didn't understand his antics) until I got the opportunity to play golf with him
True Story:...if you don't mind I'll elaborate at brief as possible
I played with him last year at the Ritz @ Reynolds for the ChicFila AlmaMater Bowl Tourney (the one that comes on at Christmas) They actually have 2 pro-ams during the festivities. 1 the day before the Coaches event where they play with a famous alumni (grad or athlete) and then another seperate ProAm while the Coaches event is going on (actually got grouped with Kellen winslow Sr that day...not bad)
Spurrier is a good stick. He called me Bobby Dodd all day cause of my Tech Attire/headcovers, etc and since there was another dude in our 5 some with the same first name.
Anyway, people approached for autographs about every 5 or 6 holes and he signed everything (even made it out to your uncle if you wanted)
Well one guy kept coming back with more and more stuff and eventually quit having it made out to someone....instead just wanted his "X". Spurrier said "Hey, you're back" to him and then asked "who'dya want me to make it out to" and the guy said just your sig coach will be fine and this is after he's signed atleast 20 items here and there
So I'm in the cart with him and I said ... does that ever get old..."Seriously?" He said "Nope, not at all. But that guy ...hell he's just doing it for money so he can go sell it. that's why I kept asking who he wanted it made out to" and "thats the only time you don't necessarily get frustrated but at the same time you think ok enoughs enough"
Honestly, I agree with him 100% and I'm not the one gettin' approached daily.
But...and here's the finally.
I said "Coach, can you do one thing for me"...."What's that Bobby?"...Please beat the hell outta UGAy this year. He said "..chuckle...Bobby, I don't beat the hell outta a lot of folks, I'm gonna be doin a helluva lot more golfin' than I'd Like to"
Anyway, it was a fun day....that's my story....if you don't like it...I don't care cause I had a blast and had the honor of meeting a College Football hero of mine.

I don't know that I would call USCe the 'armpit of the south', seems like that is in Athens!
