Stadium Noise

i loved the intensity! it was definitely one of the loudest I've heard. those last two drives were ridiculous. i agree that notre dame in 06 could have been as loud but i dont think it was louder. last night made me proud to be a yellow jacket. cept for the 27 unanswered points part.

There's a great shot at the beginning of the game's SportCenter highlights of the students jumping up and down. Looks awesome.

This was a game of three streaks. I'd just assume ignore the middle streak. :laugher:

Also can you say 27 unanswered? Because technically after their 27th one we did answer. Maybe you could say 24 unanswered and 3 answered.:laugher:

The day Michael Johnson sacked the MD QB three times in a row to seal the win would have been about as loud, I would think.

This.

I was in the student section in the end zone they were going for and I've never heard it even close to that (I was at Notre Dame 06). Of course this was at a specific place in the stadium at a specific time.

ND '06 was my first college game ever and I can't think of anything quite like it. It was a great atmosphere last night though. It has to be top 3 on the loudest I've ever heard that place get. (MD '06 and FSU '08 are up there too.)

And Chris Fowler repeatedly mentioned "and. it. is. LOUD!"

Anyone know when in the game this happened? I watched the main parts of the game again on replay and didn't hear it.

The upper east stands were shaking in the 4th QT. I am still hurting and ears ringing from last night.

They play college football up North? Since when?

IMHO The Notre Dame game from '06 is still the loudest and craziest football game I've ever watched. However, this is a close second. The noise at the end with Kernkraft playing and watching the replay on ESPN360 was epic. Thanks for being there and see you guys in two weeks for UNC!

I made an effort to watch the west side before third down plays and when we needed to be loud. I was completely stunned at the amount of people not standing or even CLAPPING their hands which takes minimal effort!!! I mean what is the deal? I know all the jokes about the west side, but what is suprising is the actual number of people not doing anything!!!

The endzones were nuts with the students and the upper nort was loud and rowdy(my seats in the nest).

The upper east gets rowdy, you could tell everyone was up and in it. Upper west was good too. But good greif the lower west is a joke!

It was very loud thursday, imagine what it could be if the entire lower west just simply all clapped their hands.

Since no one's mentioned it, I'll throw out there the '03 Awbern game. It was Reggie's freshman year, so there was none of the negativity that developed later on.

The entire game was dominated by the Tech D and it was LOUD start to finish. I was seated next to a Tennessee fan and he was blown away by how loud it was, considering our "small stadium."

it gets loud in BDS@HGF because the fans are right on top of the field. I have many uga, miami and even clemson fans say how close you are to the field, the stadium can really generate some noise cause its such a confined area.

I have a friend that is a Florida alumnus that occasionally invites me to Florida Field for a game. They have 90,000 people there but unless they are playing Tennessee, LSU, or Alabama it is not really that loud. Two things make Grant Field special. The enclosure of the South end zone and the intensity of the students being so close to the field. It is literally earthshaking. However, I have been to Williams Brice when South Carolina plays Clemson or Georgia and the damn place is actually swaying.

Yeah, I've been to many of the ACC and SEC stadiums and the loudest one I've ever been to is Lane Stadium - the SEC stadiums are full of old people who've had their seats forever (Michigan, Notre Dame, etc are the same way). VT is relatively new to the scene so most of their fans are <40.

Over the last 5 years, the ND game was by far the loudest game in the Upper East or Upper West stands. I cannot even think of a close second.

There was even a quote a year or so ago where ND players and coaches stated that the GT game was the loudest game they have ever played. The link was on Stingtalk.

Locally with all the students, the end zones may have been loud for the MD or FlaSt game, but I do not remember them being worthy of a top 3 loudest rating.

In general, the televised night games are louder than the day games.

I was in the UW, section 203, for that UMD game and it was very loud where I was. I had to miss the ND game and lived in FL for the '98 UVA game, but that was the loudest I've ever heard BDS.

That said, BDS last night was definitely in my top 3 with the UMD game and the '05 CU game which was also loud on that last drive.

Last night was extraordinarily loud, for sure. But it'd be hard to top how loud and chaotic it got when we realized that we had recovered the fumble against the Seminoles last year. I've never seen or heard anything like that at BDS.
