Stingtalk Expeditionary Force - Excursion into Rebel Territory

Our leaders are really letting us down here. Where are the pics?

Been a minute, but, IIRC they red shirt Miss Americas over at Oxford. Gold Standard thread will be off the chain that week.
As for eats, I liked the Ajax Diner and Big Bad Breakfast if you can get in.
We ate at Ajax last night. My daughter's in-laws (no pics of anyone involved) are Miss alum and are hosting us after we hosted them last year.
We had a drive-thru tour of campus last night, before and after the 7:30 tailgate set-up.
One note of curiosity: Why do some GT fans look at us like we are weirdos when we say *go Jackets" to them?

Ask them "What's the Good Word?" and they are usually dumbfounded.

It would have been nice to make a stand, but our kicking game could deflate any team. Switch back to A&M game, picking up from where they switched to us. That game will be more competitive than this one.

How'd you like Ajax? I love their jalapeno corn bread.

Lol..literally just having that discussion with my daughter then opened this.
It was okay. The group tried each other's food. Chicken pot fried pie was just good, country fried steak was really good, meatloaf was dry and not much flavor, dumplings were pretty good, fried pickles very good, red beans rolls were really good.
Probably a better experience when it's not so crowded. Looks like a good lunch spot.

Several other things I would try. Loved the folk art.

Corndog and I will be traveling to Oxford on the 15th. We’re gonna set up the tailgate on Saturday. Seeing if we have others here who want to meet up or give us good recommendations for the trip/tailgate location/food/bar etc.

So, how was your trip?

The city and school are so very tightly coupled here. It lives and dies on CFB Saturday. Polar opposite of GT and ATL. It’s a special place, to be sure. We originally planned for just me and the wife to go and childcare fell thru last minute so we toted the 4&6 y/o along because we weren’t gonna NOT go. Probably kept us on a bit better behavior than we would have otherwise:). The campus scenery lived up to the billing and you can see all the pictures you want of a chandelier in a tailgate tent, but until you see it in person, you haven’t really seen it. I’m glad I made the trip win or lose. Hospitality on demand.

Went. Had a good time except for the last 20 or so minutes of the game. The Grove, IMHO, is overrated as a tailgate experience. Scenery was top notch.

It was pretty overwhelming. I bet there is a learned approach to it that makes it work for folks who go all the time. I can’t see how else you sign up for that chaos every home game. We walked thru in the morning before it got too crazy and wandered back through before game time. The most striking thing to me was the dust. All the ladies in their cowboy boots instead of open toed shoes suddenly made a lot of practical sense.

I saw some GT folks near one of the ‘streets’ who looked like they could have been extras in that scene in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly when Tuco and Blondie think they’ve encountered a formation of Rebs when it’s just a bunch of really dusty blue-bellies.

I’ll add that it helped that I wasn’t wearing a script A on my polo and only a very non threatening interlocking GT as to the level of hospitality I experienced.
