Stingtalk Expeditionary Force - Excursion into Rebel Territory

Went. Had a good time except for the last 20 or so minutes of the game. The Grove, IMHO, is overrated as a tailgate experience. Scenery was top notch.
I agree with you on The Grove, way too congested. I couldn't figure out how is was enjoyable.
The long-time Ole Miss die hards set up only one or twice a season now, and in another section where it isn't tent on top of tent on top of tent.
Also, they hire a young dude to set up for them at 7:30 the night before.
Did see a live three piece band in one tent. That was impressive.
We were on the other side of the stadium and the opposite end of field (on the 25) than the official GT section. Could hear the group and band well until the DJ or their band, facing me, started in.

I saw some GT folks near one of the ‘streets’ who looked like they could have been extras in that scene in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly when Tuco and Blondie think they’ve encountered a formation of Rebs when it’s just a bunch of really dusty blue-bellies.
Great scene. One of my favorites.

It was pretty overwhelming. I bet there is a learned approach to it that makes it work for folks who go all the time. I can’t see how else you sign up for that chaos every home game. We walked thru in the morning before it got too crazy and wandered back through before game time. The most striking thing to me was the dust. All the ladies in their cowboy boots instead of open toed shoes suddenly made a lot of practical sense.

A Dwag friend of mine did warn me beforehand he was amazed by how dusty The Grove can get. Another friend of mine who played at South Carolina also sang The Grove's praises. And not for the food and drink, either.

I was able to sell the tickets to some Tech fans so no.
I was just messing with you but there was a decent little block in section S that was empty. Other than that it was decent. Folks moved down and sort of spread out though and filled that section in a little.
