Student support at Tech relative to other schools

The worst is when people are playing ultimate frisbee during the football games or studying... it just annoys me.

I left the EIT with 10 questions left because Tech was playing NC State, and the doors were open at Tennenbaum, and I could hear the crowd cheering across campus. Answered them at random and left early to watch the game. It was 2000, and Fridge was using the doubletight doublewide formation to put Kelley Campbell in motion and use him as the pitchman on triple option with only one back in the backfield.

beej67,
still scored in the mid 80s on the test.

EIT?

I cant figure out why they seperate the graduate and undergrad tickets. There is less grad students (percentage-wise) interested in tickets than undergrads as already pointed out earlier, so assuming grad tickets are sold out less often than undergrad then there are wasted tickets.

It only started this year. I think it had something to do with how fewer grad students are in blocks such as fraternities and thus have a much harder time getting tickets to big games.

has any had any serious talk to Drad about doing the filling the stadium with students idea? I know its has been talked about but now that we actually have a guy in charge that is proactive, I'd like to see this happen. I never understood why we should have empty seats if we have students willing to coming and be loud and proud. I remember plenty of times having to watch the game from my dorm room, while there were plenty of empty stadium seats.

It would improve the game experience for everyone there and IMO, make more sidewalk fans want to come in the long term. Seems like a win-win to me. This seriously needs to be proposed to DRad if it hasn't been already.
as far as i'm concerned they could bring a friend(non-student) with them too. we need to fill the stands and create more fans. PERIOD.

put some people in the corners no matter what the cost. i really feel that we should lower ticket prices for the main problem area(upper north) but that's just me.

another option may be a student ticket price for any student(except UGA) kennesaw, gsu, scad whatever

i guess they do have the helluva, helluva deal

Apparently the message isn't getting through to the proactive guy. It used to be that unsold tickets were divvied out to staff in hopes that they could hand out enough before game time to fill the place. Word is that the proactive guy now requires them to take the unsold tickets and toss them in the trash.

I can't see them doing anything like that...because it could very easily lead to corruption during big games like ND or UGA...and people holding out tickets for themselves and such. They did try lowering prices to $10 for the bad seats for several games last year, not sure what effect it had on the attendance.

FE, whatever you youngins call it nowadays.

I remember watching that game on TV in '00; wasn't the best memory.
Yeah, whoops, I meant 2001. (day game) Watched the 2000 game at the Brewhouse in Little 5, made a scene when we dropped that wide open 4th down pass.

I think our student support is awesome for the most part. If you go down to Bama or Auburn, the majority of the students there are just standing around. Most of the fan noise is generated by other fans.

Every time I've had friends come from other schools, they just can't get over how crazy our student section(s) can get at times. I'm not saying it's the best in the nation or anything. But, I'd say that given our academic standing, high percentage of foreign students, and athletic performance (we're no USC or UF), we do really well.

I really like the idea of expanding the student sections, but I imagine it might be a weird balancing act, especially for the weaker games.

Considering that Tech has a much larger foreign student population, that should not be surprising. Having worked there though, I am surprised at the number of kids from elsewhere who try to get into our uniquely American sport.

is this really true? I think it may be slightly larger than most, but mainly a stereotype....

Our student sections post-stadium-expansion have been awesome. They're truly a significant game advantage.

Student section makes 50% of the noise at the stadium. The best is when the opposing team is near the endzones.

I've been watching Tech games for quite a few years and I would say the student support is the best I have seen at Tech, going all the way back to Dodd.

No, it's really not that much of a stereotype. Walk around the frat houses, and yes, it looks very much like a typical southern university. But spend enough time in the dorms, and you realize how high the Asian population is. Smart as all get out, but no, many of them don't get football.
