Student support at Tech relative to other schools

No, it's really not that much of a stereotype. Walk around the frat houses, and yes, it looks very much like a typical southern university. But spend enough time in the dorms, and you realize how high the Asian population is. Smart as all get out, but no, many of them don't get football.

Does anyone know how to find this out? I've tried google with no luck. i am just curious how we compare to other schools.

Trust me, the Asian population at Tech is very low for it being a top 5 engineering school. My highschool was 77% asian, Tech's asian population is nothing...

Look at Cal, MIT, etc, and then compare them to Tech. It's quite low.

I've been in the dorms/apartments my whole time at Tech and I have had 1 asian roommate and a ton of socially inept white kids.

You gotta admit, out student body is a lot different than a traditional university...we definitely have a lot of kids that perpetuate the image that they joke about with us.

I work in Austin and there are TONS of asian kids at UT and in Austin in general. I think we have more, but there are tons of Asian kids at most universities.

However, the nbr of dorky white kids.......

The typification of dorm rats not liking Tech football isn't particularly accurate.

The fratboys always went to football games. The real difference in our student support in the past few years, primarily the Reggie Ball years, has been that the dorm rats get out to the games a lot more. A large chunk of the whackos in the end zones are dorm rats.

To be sure there are some Koreans who stare into their computers whenever they're not in class, but most of the ones who are social in some way get out to the games and make noise, because it's a social thing to do, and (as alumni should be well aware) there's not that much to do socially at Tech.

I think Tech has done a wonderful job getting the students more involved in the football program, by comparison to when I went to school. It was one of Braine's successes. (yes, he did have some successes)

Yes, but there's a lot of everyone at UT because they have 40k+ students.
