T Stan tied his future to Collins. It’s looking more and more likely they both won’t be here in 12 months.
The end can't come fast enough!T Stan tied his future to Collins. It’s looking more and more likely they both won’t be here in 12 months.
I'll take a hire that succeeds and eventually moves on to greener pastures over a Tech man who gives an unproven coach a seven year contract with a guaranteed payment of millions if he ends up running the program into the ground.I would like to see TStan commit to hiring a black woman.
I jest! But I do think hiring a ‘Tech man’ at AD is marginally more important than hiring one as a coach. At AD “the best man for the job” means someone who can fundraise and I would think being an alum FB player would help there. It also means he’s probably less likely to pull a DRad and leave for richer pastures. I thought Curry would’ve been a good hire, and I was optimistic about TStan, though obviously the latter is looking pretty sketchy.
I think it is probably pretty hard to predict how good an AD is at hiring coaches. It is a major crapshoot for anybody anytime. And he has had some success at that… Nell has obviously been a major win. How different is *hiring* a WBB coach from a MBB or FB coach?
Tech needs a ruthless and efficient business operator & people developer in the building. It's far, far easier to delegate or outsource fundraising efforts as AD particularly when you've got an org that supports its sports to their fullest potential.I would like to see TStan commit to hiring a black woman.

My only concern is the lack of money and making a budget hire in both the AD and the Collins replacement. We're at a state that these need to be home run hires and I question if we have the resources available to do it.

It really does boggle the mind that we hired someone to manage a multimillion dollar athletic department and he can’t even balance his own check book.
If we go 1-3 the first 4 games, TStan doesn’t need to make it to game 5.T Stan tied his future to Collins. It’s looking more and more likely they both won’t be here in 12 months.
If Stansbury is still here at summer break we’re screwed for an additional year in football. The new guys needs to be in place and lining up HC candidates early in the season so we’re ready to roll 11/27.If we go 1-3 the first 4 games, TStan doesn’t need to make it to game 5.

I’ve accepted the fact that everyone will still be here when the season starts. I’m trying to be optimistic, but I’ve obviously failed the past two days. Time for me to shut off my football posting again. If Stansbury is still here at summer break we’re screwed for an additional year in football. Both will be here at the beginning of the season but if we start 2-4 or 1-5 I'd like to think that things will be put into motion during the off week after DukeI’ve accepted the fact that everyone will still be here when the season starts. IM Major. Nuff said.TStan is as smart as he comes across in a press conference. Tech Man though.
As a Tech Man, I could not agree more. If Tech Man was the standard, we would have missed the greatest AD of my life - Homer Rice. God how I wish we would find another Homer Rice!Maybe I’m biased cause I’m not a “Tech man”, but T-Stan has really seemed to öööö the bed recently. I supported him originally because he seemed to understand the unique requirements of Tech’s athletic department, and a lot of the alums were very happy with his’ hiring. However, the past few months have showed he’s way over his head, and he was probably hired because of his GT-past. The idea of hiring a “Tech Man” needs to go away, and the next AD and coach should be the most qualified candidates, not the candidate with the strongest ties to GT.
