Positives:
-the defensive scheme seems to be a better fit. Lots of hats flowing to the ball.
-ab blocking.
-mason/oliver showed great potential.

Areas for improvement:
-qb play. TqM doesn't seem to have progressed, Tobias isn't ready. I doubt Graham is ready either.
-kicking game is an embarrassment.
-comfort level with the scheme. Lots of questionable space that better teams will exploit.
-finishing the play.

Overall, I'd remind everyone how many games last year came down to scores by the other team at the end of the half/game. If you think the defense has taken a step forward, then we should have a pretty decent record.

Defense looked like they were tackling better with an exception here or there. I liked the more aggressive scheme and seeing a blitz or two.

I agree—stop the scores before the half/last two minutes and the record will be better.

Passing game still a concern.

The main concerns I have are that I feel our lines are not up to par for this conference. I think the starting lbs are slow reacting and slow in general. The is some skill but none of our wide receivers are playing to potential. TaQuan needs to be better but he is what he is. Baller running the ball but streaky passing.

I liked the young secondary but Alcon wasn't a good test for them. Next week will. There is a lot more on d we will hopefully see as the season gets tougher I think today we played very ordinary. I love the new confidence there and the new coaching. Tackling was much much better.

Agree with most, although I think Taquon pitched the ball better today than I remember him doing at really any point last year. His biggest issue last year was that he couldn't make the right reads so the base offense was dysfunctional. We've been successful with a lackluster passing game before and we can do it again, but we won't fare well if he doesn't make good decisions in the option.

Duke's qb with Cutlcliffe will carve us up. No pass rush, but tighter coverage was good.

Positives:
Our QB has great escapability and can make öööö happen with his legs.
Great depth at B-back and we got Jordan “Ponchez” Mason some experience.
Jalen Camp looked good. Dolphus is a big dude.
We could have run B-back dive every play and won by more. OL run blocking was good.
Outstanding new playmaker at punt returner.
The F-ing new defense fits GT to a T.
Loved the aggressive scheme.
Loved the cornerbacks.
No injuries!

Negatives:
Passing. Jesus tits on a bull. Just awful.
TQ’s body language...hanging his head. Needs to be a better leader AT ALL TIMES, not just when he scores or makes a play.
OL pass blocking had several missed assignments and could really screw our season up if the QB gets dinged.
Kicking game. Does anyone miss more XP’s than GT? Doesn’t anyone NOT kick it into the end zone more? I don’t think so.

Overall. I think we are a slightly better team than last year. With the right breaks it could actually turn into a very decent to great season.

Punting was a positive. One punt. 48 yards in the air the entire way. Great hang time and no return yards. Hard to beat that.

Unis looked sharp

Water and Burdell's concessions get an F

Except for the punter kicking game is bad. Don’t see any improvement from last year.

QB play- still is not reading correctly. Saw several miss reads. Passing game is maybe 10 percent better but will hold out judgement for a good team.

If team plays the same next week we will loose. And it it continues we will loose a lot.

O- line was slow and sluggish. Missed blocks and assignments all over the place.

Center QB exchange was terrible. Saw multiple almost fumbles because of that. We need cooper back.

Defense did better but still needs to work on tackling. Saw Curry try and tackle with his shoulder only with no wrap-up. Got to wrap-up.

DBs still giving to much cushion.

I'll be the first to admit it. I didn't fully appreciate this guy when we had him, but man I wish we could have him for four more years.

Oh, and saw an old lady, 70+ something, being denied entry because she was carrying her purse. Probably been carrying her purse to games for 40 years from the looks of the couple.

Good job, Stansbury, you prick. I feel safer already.

Man, you guys are really crabby after a 41 point win. D looked much better than last year - more pressure, better open field tackles, swarming the ball. O looked rusty but it’s basically the same as last year. Kicking is terrible. Not sure how we haven’t recruited someone better. I could see this team win the Coastal.

The defense was certainly refreshing. We’ll make some plays but give up some against better competition. Biggest thing was tackling looked much better and coverage more sound. LBs can play downhill.

Nothing that hasn't already been said on offense. CPJ needs to figure out our passing game fast or this will be a long season. The bback dive alone ain’t going to cut it in ACC play.

We're crabby because it's Alcorn State. We beat the brakes off 'em in 2015 and go on to win 2 more games only. Our opponents will be much better right away going forward, we dont have a lot of time for the offense to start gelling.

I liked the tackling as well. It seemed a lot better than what we're used to seeing. I like that it was a shutout, even if it was an inferior opponent. I like that Taquon was able to pitch the ball more.

Passing is gonna give us a lot of headaches. Offensive line is still not good eventhough we were supposedly gonna have the best line CPJ's had at Tech. Surprise surprise. Our WRs cant get open. Stewart is not very good and I dont know how much better he's gonna get. Taquon needs to look at the ABs more for passes because they get open more. But he doesnt. He gets the ball and dials into Stewart and thats that. And he's still throwing ducks. Bbacks are ok but I dont know how theyre going to do against a bigger defense.

From the looks on TV they need to be escorting everybody personally to their seats and they could because there weren't that many people.

no worries, CFB is mostly just TV programming content these days
