Tech 7-2 better than UGAy 7-2

Their fans suck but until we beat them, they are the better team.
Now this is entirely untrue. They have the upper hand, bragging rights, blah, blah, blah. But they do not inherently have the better team because they won a year ago.

Even the Tech articles in the AJC are always followed by foaming-at-the mouth UGA fan comments. Don't these folks have anything better to do than express idiotic, irrational ideas about anything Tech does. I don't even scroll down below the articles anymore because the constructive comments from Tech fans are always buried in adolescent nonsense from Dawg rednecks. When UGA is not living up to their expectations (most of the time) it must give them comfort to make attacks on Tech.

Sitting in your trailer watching Jerry Springer has GOT to get boring.

Sorry but, it's time to wake up. They didn't just win last year. So UNTIL we beat them, please don't get into a discussion of who beats who. (which was what I meant by the better team, not historically better, or a better program.) Do not go around looking at schedules etc, wait until the end of this month.

I agree with Kyle that the Tech-Ugag game is 50-50 this year, especially with Jahi back. But, most people on Stingtalk wouldn't even give us the 50% chance.

I am a fan of both programs, but you have to respect Tech more… why?
Have you ever listened to a post game press conference after a UGA-Tech game? Tech’s players sound intelligent, and UGA’s players sound like Michael Vick. With the exception of the quarterback and a couple of others, the whole UGA team is as dumb as a bunch of fence posts. And now, it looks like Richt’s legacy will be championships with a bunch of thugs who constantly get arrested off the field. I will cheer for Georgia, but learn to have class.

At least some of them aren't in denial...

If we had played Georgia's schedule thus far, the record as well as wins and losses would be identical, in my opinion. LSU just isn't very good this year. USC and Kentucky would be wins. FSU and BC are probably better than both of them. Bama and UF would take us, but Auburn? You have got to be kidding me.

I agree.

You know, when the season started I thought UGA's schedule was a lot tougher than it has turned out to be. Arizona State and Tennessee are awful, LSU is not as strong as predicted and Auburn is not good either.

Tech's record would be pretty much what it is right now. The only potential difference would be GT maybe dropping one of @USC or @LSU --but are capable of winning both.

:laugher: So feisty. I'm not going to argue with you but what you're saying makes no sense. If the Eagles beat the hell out of the Wildcats for 7 years and in the 8th year the Eagles team dies in a horrific grocery store incident and has to be replaced by the local boy scouts, the Wildcats are the better team.

What you're referring to and trying to make your point on are bragging rights. They still have them and there is nothing we can say to them in terms of the series and the last 7 years. But we're in the middle of a season and we're seemingly on our way up and they're a loss away from total meltdown mode.

It's not premature or out of line or against any facts to believe that we're the better team right now. Very obviously, we'll get the chance to prove it, but until then not everything we believe in comparing ourselves to them is subject to whether or not we beat them in the last 7 years.

Georgia's played (Tech's result/comparable team):

GA Southern (W/JSU)
Central Michigan (W/GW)
South Carolina (W/CU)
Arizona State (W/BC)
Alabama (L/VT)
Tennessee (W/MSU)
Vandy (W/Duke)
LSU (W/FSU)
Florida (L/UVA)

Exact same. Clearly, their wins and our wins are very comparable, but their losses were to two completely superior teams. I'd say we would likely have the same record against their schedule, but they may be undefeated against ours. We lost to two teams WE should have beaten, and that they WOULD have beaten.

Therein is the difference.

... But we're in the middle of a season and we're seemingly on our way up and they're a loss away from total meltdown mode.

In a way the upcoming GT/UGA game this year reminds me of 1984. GT had beaten Bama and Clemson early in the season, down the stretch lost a close game to Tennessee, won a couple of conference games and met a UGA team that down the stretch struggled at home vs Memphis St., lost to Florida and Auburn and came into the GT game reeling.

As is the case today, it had been a while since a GT victory --history can certainly repeat itself this year.

We'd be 7-2 with their schedule, but we really wouldn't have had a shot to be 8-1 or 9-0. Whereas with our schedule we certainly could be 9-0.

I just wish that Tech and UGA played each other at the end of the year. THEN we could REALLY settle this!

Settle what? Tech is having the better year so far with respect to preseason expectations. What's to settle?

who beats who, who is the better team, who does better with whose schedule, etc. etc.

we are definitely having a better year because of beating the expectations and having the bowl chances we still have.

I'm going to have to pull a page out of U[sic]GA's playbook here.

You know who cares about a meaningless, completely subjective thing like this? People who lose the last regular season game of the year. We need to go in there and beat them.

Sure.

But that's a different question, as in... Who's the better team?

We could go 11-1 and lose to UGAG and them go 1-11 and beat Tech, and we've had the better year. But I agree, the far more important question is yours. However, not everyone does agree.
