Tech 7-2 better than UGAy 7-2

Settle what? Tech is having the better year so far with respect to preseason expectations. What's to settle?

Sure.

But that's a different question, as in... Who's the better team?

We could go 11-1 and lose to UGAG and them go 1-11 and beat Tech, and we've had the better year. But I agree, the far more important question is yours. However, not everyone does agree.

Don't get me wrong Stinger: I have no problem agreeing with Mark Bradley's original point. I was referring to the fact that the discussion on this thread has gone way beyond his point and has devolved into statements like, "Well, Tech beat Duke, who beat Vanderbilt, and Vandy beat South Carolina, and we could easily beat Tennessee, and FSU is pretty much as good as Alabama if you think about it, and we beat Mississippi St worse than Florida did, so, so, so, so, ummm" which are all points that attempt to suggest that we are not just having a better year than UGA, but that we are better than UGA. These calculations and conjectures are pointless because of November 29.

Ask yourself this:

If we win every remaining game on our schedule besides the Tech/UGA game (10-3), and they lose every remaining game besides the Tech/UGA game (8-5), will anyone have the gall to come on here and post that we had a better year than UGA? I mean, even if you believe that by some set of criteria it's true, it would be a hell of a nerdy thing to go boasting about in the context of a Tech/UGA discussion.

It would be like UGA saying that they are a better team than Florida since they outgained them.

If it won't matter who had the "better 7-2" on November 29, why should it matter now?

Don't get me wrong either. I agree with you.

However, isn't this pretty much what UGAG did last year when they got WAXED by UT and then lobbied to jump past the team (LSU) that beat UT in the SECCG, based on "a better year?"

I agree with what you're saying, but UGAG does it, too.

The game was closer than what the scoreboard said.

The score didn’t at all reflect how the game was played.

I thought we were the better team this game — just a few turnovers held us back. (Interviewer: The better team?) Definitely.

Come again?
