Tech Respect?

Although a GT fan to the core, I did not attend GT. Nor did I go to VT.

My question to GT alums: is there a grudging respect for VT and its fanbase because they are a fellow "tech?"

If so, would this respect be extended to other techs, such as Texas Tech?

Thanks in advance.

If anything, it's just the opposite.

Here's my take.

I didn't go to Tech either, but I know the answer is clearly no. That's why they are generally referred to as VPISU. Neither Virginia Tech nor Texas Tech are particularly similar to Georgia Tech as institutions beyond the name.

I suspect you knew this, though.

Yeah, no. Their university mirrors their athletic program in unfounded cockiness.

I call BULLSHIT.

The answer is no and I'm not even an alum. You could find that out just by reading this forum every now and again or if you know any Tech grads at all.

roughly the same as I respected Southern Poly. actually no, not that much.

Athletic Supporter, what you just posted is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent post, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this board is now dumber for having read it.

I award you no thumbs up and may god have mercy on your soul.

I am intimately familiar with vpisu, have been to countless games in Lane stadium, my h.s. district basketball tourney was in their arena, etc. I suppose everyone knows Vpisu mostly sucked in sports until fairly recently. I think they had been to maybe 2-3 minor bowl games in the entire school history until late 80s.

I turned down a full ride at vpisu to pay out of state tuition for GT engineering school (I did get an academic scholarship at GT but only covered a portion). Thought a lot more about UVA than Vpisu. Uva would have been fun, good small engineering school, but I needed a change of scenery.

Vpisu is a good engineering school but not in the same league as GT.

Vpisu is a lot like Clemson, auburn, nc state...those 4 are interchangeable.

These kinds of insiders-only references always make me feel like I'm not one of the ST cool kids, even when I recognize them.
