Tech Respect?

Athletic Supporter, what you just posted is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent post, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this board is now dumber for having read it.

I award you no thumbs up and may god have mercy on your soul.
i snorted when i read this

FWIW, Forbes ranks UVA at #44, GT at #88, and VT #110.
WSJ ranking is more typical: GT 53, UVA 56 and Vpisu 123 (uga 261 btw).
Clemson 188 and NC State 137.
Bama is #464.
GT being a specialty school doesn't always fair well in university rankings.
I came to GT to study engineering...top 5 in that category, nobody else in the region is even close.

They are VPI. Texas Tech is Texas Tech. We are "Tech." The difference between Tech and these other places is bigger than the difference between Harvard and Mayberry Union High.

So, that proves my point, but no one cares about Forbes rankings.

THE rankings: GT 34, UVA 107, VPI 251-300 (edit: in the world, not just the US)

But... UVA is more respected in general than GT. Not in engineering, but in general people hold UVA, UNC, and UC Berkeley as the top public schools.

Although a GT fan to the core, I did not attend GT. Nor did I go to VT.

My question to GT alums: is there a grudging respect for VT and its fanbase because they are a fellow "tech?"

If so, would this respect be extended to other techs, such as Texas Tech?

Thanks in advance.

I respect VPI for what they are: a great large animal veterinary school.

Settle down, nerd.

Texas Tech is the worst name IMO. In Georgia Tech, the Tech is short for Technology. In Virginia Tech, the Tech comes from Polytechnic. In Texas Tech, the Tech is just Tech. They took a concatenation and made it part of their name. Also, Texas Tech University sounds terrible.

UVA and VT are not on the same level, even in engineering. It’s like comparing Emory and Kennesaw State.

Spoiled trust fund, snowflake commies to hard working, down to earth decent Americans?

And Texas Tech fans are some of the most vile scumbags on earth. Much worse than ANY SEC (including ugag) fan base or n.d.

I’ve spent time in Lubbock and can confirm the above. It’s pretty bad when “Tech” is the fourth or fifth best engineering school in the state.

Not only that, their football players have their fat little girlfriends telling them how great they are.

93rd nationally. Mostly focused on agriculture and petroleum, unsurprisingly.

my cousin (by marriage) is an ME from TT. Smart guy and is in petro now. His sisters both went to TT, as well. Not really sure why as even they will tell you Lubbock sucks.
