Tech's 2022 "Dream" Season - You Saw It Here First!

Then you woke up and reality set in.

But in the inner crevasses of your subconscious...

No, it’s because people come here to spew toxic negativity bile onto others under anonymity to make themselves feel better about their own ööööty lives so when someone tries to bring blind optimism they feel obligated to öööö on it with all their might. Does Tech football suck? Yes majorly. But look at the posts in the off-season. The number of wins or losses haven’t changed since November yet every day people bring new forms of reiterating the same sense of doom. We’re gonna go undefeated? Go öööö yourself. We’re gonna die and it will be misery and devastation and our corpses will get skull ööööed by demons. That’s how you stingtalk.
Alternative theory: we want to avoid the impression that we're anything like Tennessee fans who constantly think they're going to be playing for a national championship until they actually see their team play. Don't be a Tennessee fan.

This was a dream, not a prediction. Why shouldn't we dream in August? September will be here soon, and the time for dreaming will be over.

Just for fun, if I had to come up with a way to support the possibility of this dream coming true, this would be my argument.

Let's say the new offensive coaches are really good and make a one score improvement in every game. That is possible.

Let's say Coach Collins understands he must win this season and realizes it's about the score board, not the culture. So, he concentrates on coaching the defense, knowing his career depends on it. Maybe he was not ever "elite," but maybe he was actually slightly above average, and maybe this season he concentrates on coaching like it. That could make a one score difference in every game. That is possible.

Maybe our players are sick of losing. Maybe they have grown, improved and decided to stand stronger against all the teams that have been humiliating them. Maybe they are sick of hearing about how bad they are. That could make a one score difference in every game. That is possible.

Maybe, our opponents aren't quite as good as they've been the last few seasons. That could make a one score difference in every game. That is possible.

Maybe we just have better luck than we had the last few years, and maybe our opponents don't take us seriously and make more mistakes against us. That could make a one score difference in every game. That is possible.

All that is possible. It could happen. If it does, we win three games because we're actually the better team, six close games against teams that are not that much better than us, and three games against teams that don't have any respect for us and make a lot of mistakes, while we play our very best. That's 12-0.

Likely? No. Possible? Yes.

So our opponents both aren't as good as they've been in the last few seasons but also are undefeated?

I am riding in your boat. Win them all.

Absolutely nobody could spend five minutes looking at the rest of StingTalk and come away with the impression that anyone here particularly likes Tech or has any confidence it will ever succeed. Despite what gets repeated by the same 3-4 accounts, there really aren't people crawling around here in the shadows, whispering prophecies that this is all part of the plan and Gefo is the chosen one. So we don't have any real optimism on display in public or in secret. I think we can cope with a thread or two about someone literally dreaming of something impossibly good happening.

Yeah, but even you don't take enough drugs to post something as outrageous as the OP.

I had a dream that I ran into The Beatles at a record store and they wanted to hang out with me. More likely to come true than your dream and two of them are dead.

I like your dream…keep it alive. After we beat UGAg for the title, Sanford Stadium will instantaneously blow up and spray all the bullshit in it across Athens.

Right now, a more realistic dream season for me would be 2-2 out of conference, and 6-2 in ACC games. Win the Coastal. That would not be like winning the Super Lotto odds, but could actually happen.
