He said "we let them [compete today] and it wasn't much different". I interpreted that as "different from before". I think he could've meant it either way

I think we should do nothing but kick field goals until he makes them. Tell him "OK, this entire game is on you, if you don't make field goals we lose." He'll learn to kick fast

He's someone's kid and I try to remember that...but then I think about the thousands of hours of practice, lifting, studying and otherwise preparing done by the other kids on the team. I think about them and the sacrifices they make. The coaches, their hard work. The fans, their time and effort not to mention their money and support.

Did he do everything he could? Did he prepare as hard as he could and was he the best option available? If yes, then he shouldn't feel bad. If no, he should feel like crap and should go to work and make sure he never lets down all of us ever again. I think you get a few chances to really make a difference to that many people's lives, you better prepare like it. I doubt he did that based on performance. He can't undo what he did but he can go work his ass off and if he can't fix it he should go tell the coaches that he can't do it and to find someone else

Wait, so you think this kicker didn't practice as hard as he could, didn't lift weights, didn't try to focus and do the best he could? Any special insight into this, or are you just spouting nonsense?

My guess is that 1) he isn't that great of a kicker and/or 2) he's a RS SO who had never been on that stage before and it showed. But I also remember Harrison Butker having a shitty sophomore year (well, until we got to the UGA game...praise Jebus). In fact, he was 62% over his sophomore and junior seasons. Yes, 62% > 0% and Harrison always crushed kickoffs. But that was our first string scholarship kicker who we know had the talent to be in the NFL.

I'm also quite confident that CPJ wants to win the games and is going to put out there who he believes is the best option.

So in summation, stop being a jackass.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Supposedly he could hit from beyond 50 in warmups. If he can't do it when it matters he doesn't need to play. Also, did Butker cost us the UNC, FSU or Duke games his sophomore year? Nope. Did he hit a game winning chip shot from about the same distance in Blacksburg? Yep.

I wasn't expecting Butker, I was expecting 1 out of 2 from a college football kicker. If that was his best, he shouldn't be first string, 2nd string or scout team

I was thinking about that kid as I watched the returning Ala kicker miss FG on Sat. I guess he's red shirting. Coulda been a hero in the same stadium.
