million yesterday, and was on campus most of the day. He has to decide if he wants yo go to Smu and not be able to compete in a major BCS conference or come to GT with a little less, where there is major upside and compete for a National Championship.

I hope you are right. Did your source give you any indication as to the tone of the meeting? How does he/she like our chances?

Contrary to other reports, Smu had a 1st offer of 1.3 million. I am almost sure they have the means to go up significantly. (Think J.R. Ewing)

So it all comes down to whether Johnson has the competitive juices in him to go up against the big boy's, the Miami's, Fsu's, Vt's or just go over there to Texas and still get media attention for being a great coach while beating up on a bunch of patsies.

When this insider told me and I broke it to you guys, was it not PJ?
How did this board member or anyone know, PJ was going to take this long and play the money game?

Think about it, like Ken Rodriguez said on Fox 5 Sports last night SMU or GT!!! Who do you think is the more attractive job he asks. That was what the board was thinking also. So like Blowhart at the Ajc stated, "If GT thinks they can just get PJ because they are the best D1 school to pursue him to date, think again, Smu has deep pockets"

His stalling has taken everyone by surprise.

Evidently, money is important to him.

Also, his agent Reale is known as a very deliberate negotiator. This is nothing out of the ordinary.

I was told going into this search from someone I trust that our budget for a proven coach would be between 1.5 and 1.8, so it looks like we went to our limits to get him.
