The Coastal is ours…

If Carter and Norris were really held out being butthurt over the firing of Collins and a new nonsense approach to coaching, it isn't a good look for either. Play hard through the season. If you don't like it at the end, portal, but don't give the hell up and expect other teams to line up for you in the off season

True. The fact that they both wear single digit numbers (which is an award/honor within the program, especially recent years) is even more striking for the kind of program and guys that last coach was uplifting and rewarding playing time.....

The only numbers that matter to me on offense are 14 and 21. I would want one of those two numbers.

The OPI call is a play that happens multiple times in every game. I want it caked in every instance (and don't like the exception for forward passes behind the line of scrimmage), but if you come at it from the "let them play" logic that would say our DPI on the last drive shouldn't have been called, then that's a justification for it being a bad call.
I think you may need to watch it again. It was pretty egregious, and typical of offensive PI’s I’ve seen called recently.

Did

Did he explain why the OPI was a bad call?

He would be wrong but I’m curious what he said.

My guess is he is going over the top to be impartial after his pro-GT (anti-Collins) rant a few weeks ago.
Yea just re watched. Guy is blocking downfield way before the ball is thrown; and the pass is throw past the LOS. Easy call. The same WR was holding Malachi too, so they could have gotten them for that as well.

Fwiw, the detailed explanation of what went wrong on the punt return TD (without giving away the schematics of how we're going to fix it) gives me a lot of hope that we're going to see improvement coming out of the bye week.

Really surprised me in the moment that Elko didn't go for the win on the road with less than :10 left. That was their first offensive TD all afternoon.
Was worried about that as well, but they weren't prepared if he wanted to, when i saw qb immediately head to sideline with helmet off, i breathed a little sigh if relief. They had no timeouts left so they couldn't have gotten the play off anyway at that point.

The delay of game they got at one point late was weird. Just let the clock wind to nothing.

So is he the one who was supposed to be the best ever or is that Blackstrain?
Both were highly rated out of HS but Blackburn was the one everybody was after. Blackstrain was injured his JR year of HS and back for his SR year. His body wasn't quite ready for the college game yet so redshirted last year. Blackburn came in hot and was wowing folks last spring and early fall but suffered a season ending injury in fall camp of 2021. He likely would have seen ample playing time as a true freshman. He was back for summer workouts and the start of fall camp but suffered a wrist injury that set him back a few weeks from making his debut. He's the one we've been waiting for. Hopefully that continues grow as he gets more game time under his belt.

Side note: I literally thought you had been joking all this time about getting Blackstrain and Blackburn mixed up.

Carter was injured. Norris did not play against Pitt either. Not sure if injured or maybe red-shirting since he played in the first 4 already.

Roddy on ACC Radio with Wes just now said the following boneheaded things:

1 - the roughing call was 100% correct, the tackler drove him to the ground with all his weight, and Tech fans are crying for no reason

2 - the offensive PI was the ONLY bad call in the game and it cost Elko the win

He literally just ööööing said that.

The only rational thought that came out of his mouth was Elko should’ve went for 2. He’s correct about that.

1. The roughing call doesn't make sense to me. I thought the rule is that there needs to be a step after the ball is thrown.

2. I thought at the time it would've been holding not OPI as our db didn't seem that close to the ball.

On further reivew, is it because the other WR blocked our DB preventing him from following the WR to cover him? IIRC, this gets flagged on slants if a WR tries to block the defender covering the other slant.
