The End of Saban

If Gibbs plays well through the Auburn game, what are the odds he lays out of the bowl game? Alabama can still make the SECC, but Gibbs quit on us. He may quit on Bama to preserve his draft status.

Very possible unless it's the playoffs. And I imagine he wouldn't be the only one either.

At this point everyone basically considers the players professionals, as evidenced by any number of message board posts or talking head points. But the schools don't want to pay them so they're not under contracts. I would expect the players to keep acting in their own business interests (transferring at the drop of a hat, sitting out, etc.) until the schools start treating them like professionals as well and they have real contracts.

The biggest problem that I see with the Alabama football program is the lack of quality coordinators and
assistant coaches. Being one of the elite football programs since Saban became the head coach at Alabama
has caused their program to lose some quality coordinators like; Kiffen, Smart, Pruitt, Sarkisian who have moved
on to other coaching jobs. It doesn't seem to me that Saban has replaced them with quality he has lost in
coordinators and coaches.

Much like Tom Brady, eventually Saban really will get passed by one of these times and stop being dominant.

I just wish it wasn’t Georgia who did it to him.

Maybe Tech wins out the rest of its games and Alabama loses the rest of theirs and we play them in the Quick Lane Bowl.

Even by the sub-lowly standards of ncaa and cfb leaders, who have done some stupid öööö over the years, the 12 team playoff takes the cake. It is a worse idea than hiring Bernie sanders to be your tax planner.

Think about the alabama-lsu or ugag-tn game yesterday. They wouldn’t have meant anything to anyone other than maybe lsu as 3 losses might have kept them out. Tn should have played their backups and mailed it in. And if smart, why get yourself an extra game in the sec championship and get injured. Just wait it out as an 11-1 tn being 4-5th ranked team and stay healthy.

The 12 team playoff is a great way to make the regular season semi-meaningless and resemble college basketball. Nice move, dickweeds.

I’m sure they will give the top X teams a bye + a favorable seeding. I doubt anyone mails it in with such incentives.

Most years the SEC championship game will probably determine who gets these benefits. And if you’re sitting at say #6 the last week of the season you cannot afford a loss to your weak rival game, so all your starters are playing like normal.
