Yeah, real heartbreaking. 6 guys take 2 girls age 17 and 15 to a hotel room, give them drugs and alcohol and take turns doing every sex act imaginable with both of them and videotape the proceedings. The reason it became an issue was that the 17 year old accused them of rape, and the police got the videotape.

Sounds like a typical Panama City Beach spring break trip for my highschool.

They were found innocent of rape. As we all know due to recent events, an accusation of rape is not a conviction. Especially if there's a video tape of the event and they're STILL not convicted.... The jurors were really pissed when they found out how much jail time he got(they don't get to know the sentencing time, they only get to decide on a conviction). He also has a long standing offer to plead guilty and take a much shorter sentence. He's refused the entire time and continues to serve out his sentence out of principle.

As for teenage guys and girls getting drunk/high and having sex, if we start locking them up for that we're going to have a lot of full jails. Anyway the oral sex = felony and real sex = misdemeanor is a stupid law.

Agree it's a stupid law. The punishment should fit the crime, and this kid didn't deserve what he got.

I have read a number of stories about this case, and many of them try to make it sound like a guy and his girlfriend having consensual sex. In reality it was a much grittier scene, a drug/alcohol/gangbang. That was my only point.

Yeah I agree with that. Definitely wasn't consensual sex...but a much worse punishment than it should have been...especially for someone of his age with a scholarship to college.
