I have to think that something is up on the OL:

1) Half were recruited as light fast lineman who are now extremely overweight and slow. Take the weight back off.

2) I have to think something is up between Key andPautenode. Something is just not right.

3) As it stands, it doesn’t take much to overwhelm us.

On point #2, this is where leadership comes into play. Assuming we have any.

Simple fact is this staff is failing. Simple solution is get a decent staff. Tech can’t afford one for a couple reasons. Money, and money. Also Tstan would have to admit he erred and the prideful always struggle with that.

But why fire Collins when you can’t get anything better? Things could actually get worse believe it or not. Collins is a boob but he’s no Bill Lewis.

Pretty much. There was also poor technique and coaching thrown in.

#60 leaving his block during a play to find someone else to block (nobody was there) and having the player he was blocking make the tackle stands out.

Too many times the entire OL was overwhelmed and 4-5 VT defenders were in on no gain or losses. Too many times the pocket just collapsed on Sims. He did a great job on one play stepping up, keeping his head downfield, and making the throw.

I find it troubling - quite troubling- that, no offense to my learned StinGTalk brethren, there are so many obvious problems being pointed out. We are message board people and it's obvious even to us.

All teams have games where just everything goes sideways. Those are called "throwaway" games. You don't even look at the film - you just move on. In basketball, you get like 3 per season. In football, you get one.

We are having so many of these every season.

I'll tell you right now that I know and observe less on the OL than probably anyone else in here. But at one point, I just decided to watch only the OL and not follow the play.

I was literally horrified. If you recorded the game, go to the 4th Q when we were backed up against the south EZ. The play where Sims got sacked. Watch the Center wave a matador cape at the VT nose guard who rushed past and sacked our QB.

At this point, I'm less worried about our record - we aren't going bowling- and am now deeply concerned about the morale of the team. Read the quote from Quez Jackson after the game. I just feel bad for him and the others that come to play while others are just punching a time clock.

The OL is so bad it is hard to evaluate the Offensive Coordinator. In a normal situation, he would have the ability to replace the Offensive Line Coach. Unfortunately this is not a normal situation and the OL coach has more power than the OC.

The defense is a different situation. The defense has two weaknesses. The DL is just beginning to get the talent to be effective. The DB's are supposed to be a talented group but continue to be beat both short and deep. The DB coaches need to go. If Thacker won't do it he needs to go.

Play the younger players. This season is shot. Develop the players who can help us win next year. I have a hard time imagining the young Offensive Linemen will miss more assignments than the seniors.

The thing is Key isn't just the OL coach, he's the "run game coordinator". I'm guessing that means he schemes the running plays and Patenaude just calls them? Thinking about that, and that the DB's are split between two coaches (one of which is also the co-defensive coordinator), I wonder if all the split work on things that are usually done by one person is part of the issue.

Bill Lewis after 30 games: 11-19
Collins: 9-21

Dayum. Stop bringing relevant facts and stats to this conversation. If I wanted to have a reasonable conversation I wouldn’t have come to a fan forum.

In his defense. I don’t think he’s completely lost the team or started a race war between players on it….yet.

Bill Lewis.....becomes HC 2 seasons after GT wins a National Championship.
How much of the elite talent was still on the team when BL took over? How were things trending from 90-91?

I’m not excusing the disaster that became the BL era but it also isn’t like he was taking over for Saban at Bama next year.

Well, he took over and had Shawn Jones, William Bell, Dorsey Levens, Bobby Rodriguez, Coleman Rudolph, Kevin Battle, Donnie Davis, Jimy Lincoln, Rodney Wilkerson.....you tell me, idiot.

stupid. Just stupid. How ööööing stupid can you be? All teams don’t have throw away games. I never heard of that in my life double naught. Nothing else you said can be believed after that idiocy. Stupid thing to believe.

I heard that from an actual NBA coach.

I can believe that from an NBA coach. Such a long season. So many games.
It seems to happen to a lot of college football teams. This season has a ton of inexplicable upsets. I think FatJacket is just pissed off like the rest of us so I'm not taking it personal.

Then why 1991? And which way was it trending? I think you are just butthurt at prior posts. :D
