The real question, who will be the new Defensive Coordinator?

I don't believe that is the real question. The poison in this program is Collins. You could get the very best coordinators in the country, and they would be ineffective if Collins were still the Head coach. Get rid of Collins or we will never get better. Also, I do not believe any good coordinators would come to work for Collins. It would be a personal and career disaster to do so. I am not saying Collins is a bad man. But, I am saying he us a horrible head coach, and no tinkering with the staff will help that.
This is my concern, too. He won't let go like Dabo did with the CEO approach- but sit on the coordinators. So- no one is going to come into that career suicide to do so. We'll see. We definitely need new D-Coord, Safeties, and DB coaches though. They're awful.

And linebackers

Who are some recently fired head coaches with DC backgrounds? Might be an opportunity for redemption.

I’d be chomping at the bit at this job. This defense is historically bad; any improvement would be much welcomed.
Collins will not hire anyone who might threaten him.
Who would take a position that will probably end after one year.
Can any coach succeed with our practice format and Collins refusal to hold players accountable.

C****** isn't going anywhere. I have to believe he will make a change somewhere so, the dc seems the most likely

I get it, but I think this is a 1-2 year contract for a dc. Even most of us think it's just to help ride out till the buyout. Most likely, the DC goes when a new HC comes in. Unless it's a big promotion, why would anyone hitch their wagon to a dying horse?

unless Collins leaves, it is window dressing. He talks culture but ours is soft and rotten. Time management belongs to the head coach, not the coordinator. Knowing how to deal with the press belongs to the head coach. Hiring assistants is the head coach. I could go on, but you get the picture.

Can you imagine the look on Mullins face ( or whomever ) the first time they are ready to have the team practice and are told, no, today we're going to play kickball?

So frustrating to see anyone thinking a new DC will solve our issues. Our HC is all about defense. Our defense is his.

Have y’all watched the games? We have giving up 68 plays of 20yds+ or more defense in 11 games. If a new DC reduces that to even 25% we are at least 6-5 or 7-4 at minimum with optimism about 22 season bc this will be CGC first class of upperclassmen.

Who would you like to see in the DC role?

Yeah. I just lay the blame at the feet of our head coach, who said he’s all about defense when he got here

If we are talking about based on CGC relationships

If had to spend my money. This kills 3 birds with one stone, DB coach, very good ST, successful defenses post Groh & FSU

I'd be all over Charles Kelly!

I would be all for Kelly, as well.

His current salary at Alabama is 825,000. (We pay Thacker I think 400,000). I am guessing we have to offer a million, at least, to get him to come back, maybe even a little more, given the circumstances. Offer him 1.2 and an AHC title?

Isn't Brent Key AHC? How many AHCs can we have?

I'd love for Charles Kelly to come back but why would he leave Bama for a likely one year stint?
