I would be all for Kelly, as well.

His current salary at Alabama is 825,000. (We pay Thacker I think 400,000). I am guessing we have to offer a million, at least, to get him to come back, maybe even a little more, given the circumstances. Offer him 1.2 and an AHC title?

Key has a 2 year deal and buyout, so no go there. Could save a couple hundred thousand by having one secondary coach instead of a safety coach and CB coach. I don't know if you can have more than 1 AHC, actually. I was just sweetening the pot. Lol

Looks like he had 2 stints totalling 5 years as a DB coach at Ohio St. DC experience at Miami of Ohio and Temple . Seems reasonable for the type of guy we could realistically get.

Pretty good, short list @ibeeballin . I don't know what Johnson makes with the Raiders, but giving Thacker, Burton, and Popovich the axe clears about $1MM. I assume we'd need to give Marco and Larry Knight (good recruiter) a slight raise. We'd still need a LB coach but Johnson should be pretty well connected.

I'd love Kelly, but he'll probably be too expensive. Bama fans are ready to dump Golding which means Kelly could be getting a promotion soon.
