The Tough Hard Truth

Go back and look at the game...we did blitz, quite a lot early on, but we we obvious about it and Whipple and Harris took advantage of it with middle screens and shallow crossing routes and out patterns. Hell. Miami did the same thing to FSU. The middle was open all night. Whipple's game plan whipped our ass.

Now we truly see how good Walker and Richards really were. Good D starts with the DTs and if our's can be pushed around by one guy, we will be in big trouble. BOR is right our cb's are playing too soft. Harris is way to damn accurate to play soft with their receivers.

Blocking, Blocking, Blocking....man we need to work on technique with our skilled guys...so many missed or weak blocks in this game tonight, and yet the smallest back ends up making the best block..thank you Mr. Wright...please hold a class and make sure it is mandatory for all the skilled players to show up. My god how many time do I have to watch a lineman running around looking for someone to block when Josh is about to have his head knocked off.

We need some leadership on this team. I know we are young but somebody needs to step up, ala Choice from years back, to help get these guys moving in the right direction.

We can and I think will be a damn good team this year...better than last...we just need to work on execution and finishing the play

Lucas Cox needs to play more. He is the only person on the field who can block.

I may have missed a few, but I think it is funny/awesome that little Marcus Wright is sick at blocks and special teams. That dude puts our o-line to shame.

I might be wrong here, but I'm inclined to take a bunch of Marcus Wrights (size and all) on our o-line!

So can we expect other teams i.e. UGAg to pick up on what Miami has done on the O and D this game and put us to shame?

Scary thought...

Kids. When you go to bed tonite. It's ok to tuck up with Mr. Teddy. Because they love you. And weird people like Mr. Barrel of Rum are just losers that waste their time on internet message boards.

Weirdos like that don't count, my angels.

Only you. Only you.

Oh and can we get a different FG kicker, but keep Blair for kick offs - for the reason of tackling cause it's pretty solid....sad, but true...

Negative: No solid possession with great field advantage.

Positive: No fumble turnovers.

Tenuta sucked too. He may have blitzed all night long, but I have a feeling this would have been one of those Matt Ryan nights where Miami prepped for picking up the blitz.

And I was about to post the stats from the 2007 BC game where Matt Ryan picked apart Tenuta's D for 435 yards.

This reminded me a lot of that.

If Miami keeps this up, this will probably be the best passing offense the ACC has seen since that one.

This team was absolutely gassed. They played 3 game sin 12 days and now they have 10 days to rest. Let's withhold judgment until they play on a full tank.

That was the fastest team I've seen in a long time out there tonight. Their O had a definite identity, and their D was out for redemption.

The defensive secondary has been resting since last year's Miami game. Isn't 300 days enough. Stiffen up and shut UNC out. Shut the bastards out.

I don't think it is the OL I believe the other DC's have figured how to stop this offense

Wrong.

Notice how much time Nesbitt has to throw? Not much. This OL has been owned - even by JSU - since the UGAG game last year. They were embarrassed by G-W last year.

So what you're saying then is we need another coach? Don't sugar coat it, this is Johnson's offense and it's what he's going to run. Our problem is not what we do but how we do it. When you don't block it doesn't matter what kind of plays/system you run.

My highlight last night at 10 PM came when my Comcast DVR changed the channel to record the season premier of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and I didn't change it back.

The team that played last night won't beat FSU, they won't beat VT, they won't beat UGA. That team last night was soft. Paul Johnson was right when he said our team was too nice, but that was two weeks ago, and that should have been corrected. I was going to blame the ACC for this loss, because our team got the short end of the stick, but I can't. Our team is not tough. The one small bright spot I saw was that Josh's passing looked miles better, and I thought he played a better game. Other than that, there is nothing positive to take from last night's game.

1.) When I can see that Tarrant (even said so in both my analysis of the last two games) plays way too soft coverage, that's a damn problem. It was a problem again tonight, and Wommack didn't do **** to fix this since day one. That pisses me off. I have said since last year that Rashad Reid has the best instincts for a CB I have seen at GT since Willie Clay and he's not starting. ****ing Dumb.

While I agree with the part about Reid have you ever thought about the coverage that was being called? I don't agree with the soft coverage either but sometimes that is what is called. There were several times I saw him rolled up and playing hard cover 2 on the corner!

2.) Welcome to the world of Real Division one football Coach Johnson. 250 pound converted DE's and TE's don't make good Offensive Tackles at this level. Sellers was getting owned this entire game. We need guys who can move that can handle big Dlines. Sellers fails.

Let me see here, I think CPJ has had 2 years to recruit his type of lineman for the system. Maybe we should just play freshmen and sophomores out there and really get our asses handed to us. No one is more critical of OL play than myself, but if they are not there they are not there.

3.) Coord Howard rather get his picture taken by someone on the Hive than hit an opponent's skull through his helmet. Soft, slow, and owned.

I can agree with this point!

4.) Jason Peters and Robert Hall.... disappointing is an understatement. Lets see some freshman.

Once again would that really help the overall defense. We are young and inexperienced there as we all know.

5.) Play some young guys because some of these guys think they got a good thing and no competition. OLine specifically and DLine too.

I can tell you for a fact, which I can't reveal, that THERE is competition going on and the best is playing.

6.) No excuse whatsoever for our team to not figure out how to pressure the QB. What did you prepare these guys for Wommmack?

Totally agree.

7.) Undisciplined ball. Penalties kept us out of this game early and left us without a chance. Cone, you broke the cardinal rule of Receivers. When the CB beats you on a block. YOU ****ING NEVER HIT HIM IN THE BACK. You let him go. Way to go for ****ing up a perfectly good TD or at least a 1st down. I haven't played ball in 18 years and I can still remember that rule. Pathetic.

I guess GT is the ONLY team in the country that plays freshmen and they get penalties called on them? I don't like the penalties either, but youth does come out at times.

9.) No fire from this team in its first three games. Pathetic. No excuse. PJ, time to look in the mirror.

Look in the MIRROR. BULLSH*T! I guess he is just one horrible coach who doesn't know DICK about the game and motivating players. Dumbass comment IMO!

10.) Nesbitt is still making poor reads. Really can't understand why. Unfortunately, we have no other options at QB.

Poor reads are killing. There were several last night.

11.) Our Linebackers are not aggressive and now I understand why. We have tried to adopt the Wolf position because our LB's are so used to blitzing pre PJ they have no clue about pass coverage.

Another DUMBASS statement about pass coverage. They rep several times in practice every single play. unfortunately when your DL is not keeping them off of you it's hard to get where you are supposed to be.

12.) Kudos to Miami's game plan. Their OC is very very good.

Miami could very well run the table! I hope not but it could happen. Gonna be interesting to see what happens to Harris when he has pressure in his face.

13.) To Paul Johnson. The rest of the ACC is catching on to your ****. You better figure it out fast and adjust because we're losing more games at this pace.

I am damn sure glad to hear that CPJ is getting caught up to by the rest of the NCAA. Maybe you didn't hear him right at halftime last night when he stated that missed blocks cost us huge in the first half. One missed or made block can be the difference in 4 yards and 40 yards.

Hell lets just pack it in for the year and say forget it. We have been caught by everyone else. We have youth all over the place and they get us penalties. Josh misses more reads than he makes.

While I do agree with some of your words a lot of it is out of frustration BOR

Same here . It was nice to laugh a little and go to bed in a semi-good mood.
