This Is What I'm Beginning to Think

I remember when I thought dabo was an asshat clown who couldn’t coach
Exactly. I remember several on here loving the fact that he was Clemson's coach that first season or two. We might need to take a look at the tape...

I don't remember any Clemson team looking as fundamentally unsound and poorly coached as we did today. I'm pulling for Collins. I was excited after the FSU game. But, he's blown all the good will he got from that, which us really sad. Remember, recruits want to have a chance to be coached up and put in big games. It affects their careers. This team doesn't show one sign of being well coached. Not one. I hope it improves, before it gets too late.
Clemson has almost always had better athletes and better players than us over the past 15, or so years. Of course they wouldn't look like they don't know what the hell they are doing as often as we do currently. We will get better! If not, I'll eat my words!

I don’t remember Dabo having to transition from a 3O offense either. That alone puts us 2 years behind Clemson’s path.

People talk like it's impossible to lose and look well coached while you lose. For arguments sake, let's say Collins inherited no players good enough to win. Well, that might mean his team couldn't win. But, we could still look like a well coached team. We are fundamentally unsound on everything. That is all coaching. It is very discouraging.

Did MSU transition from being a TO team with a bare cupboard?! Plus, Where's Joe Burrow? I Love Leach, but let's not christen him, just yet! Give Collins a chance, damn it!
Leach's teams have been blown out numerous times in the past. Great win, but I guarantee they will be taken to the woodshed a few times

We’re playing mostly freshmen and sophomores who didn’t get the extra spring practice. I’m definitely frustrated with the way we’re playing, but it’s understandable right now. We’ll have to see how the team progresses through the year though.

The penalties are conserning for sure. It sucks losing like that, but like others have pointed out, TO transition, fr/so starters, etc. Is huge.

Anyone calling for Collins to be fired and being all doom and gloom is a bit premature.

I thought most were pretty certain this was a three year deal with all things considered, not to mention the admitted lack of special teams practice due to covid this year.

I am watching Mississippi State at LSU. In his first game, Mike Leach has another coach's players running a new system and leading the defending national champions 44-34 with 3:07 left in the game. They might still lose, but they sure look like they know what they're doing. That's an example of good coaching, and it makes all the excuses for what we watched today at Syracuse seem lame.
I agree.... Mike Leech is a proven HC... Coach Collisn is just a dude who took over Temple and lost to multple FCS teams while there with Matt Rhules players... He then sold everyone (Gt AD TStan) on his vision for GT... Lets be real for a moment.... most said it was a five year rebuild at Tech when Coach Johnson retired....So the question is what does a successful rebuild look like... I would say where Chan Gailey had the team before we went out and got Coach Johnson... B2B 7 win seasons.... Make no mistake GT recruiting profile has raised...but to expect a young inexperianced coaching staff to produce what Coach Johnsons did is not logical. Coach Johnson was a HOF coach.... By year 5 we might be able to win 7 games...

The best thing is it appears we might get to go bowling this year... we will see..

ST is atrocious, comical at best. We aren't inept on offense like last year, with flashes of real talent and progress, and ability to move the ball with some consistency. We continue to be our own worst enemy most of the time, but it will get better.

it isn’t the four year timeline that is frustrating to people, it is that in year 2 things seem to be moving backward from year one

I’d say you’re an idiot overall, I can’t say football iq.
If you think Syracuse‘s defensive and offensive line aren’t better than ours after watching that game, you’re the idiot

and that’s what wins and loses games buddy

One of the anonymous pre-season coaching quotes from other ACC coaches hit the nail right on the head when he said: “They (Georgia Tech) have a few players that could play on other teams”. He did not say START on other teams. He said PLAY on other teams— ie make their roster. It is impossible to overstate just what a sad lack of talent Paul Johnson left. And it’s absolutely amazing that he was even able to win 5-6 games per year with that talent.

Lay off Collins and give him time to assemble his players before you throw him under the bus.

almost nobody had spring practice
we're in year two. and the returning people in year two look even worse.
