This offense is built for 3rd and 18

That is what they were giving us. Were you at the game? Did you see VT's defensive alignment? Did you notice the single coverage with no deep safety help? Those passes are what VT was gambling we couldn't make or that they could cover man to man. Everything short was covered. We went to the counter QB keeper because they were putting numbers on the edges. Damn, asshole, learn how to watch a ööööing game. We should have been dropping bombs on them all game until they adjusted safeties back giving us the option game back
can't believe i'm doing this, but here goes.....

I think the big difference yesterday was that our pass blocking actually held a decent pocket for TM to set his feet instead of him having to run for his life.

We had Stewart on another sure TD but Taquon threw it a bit behind him and he couldn't adjust. If he throws it to the right upright it would have been another TD.

We also had a TD ona long Post after the chop block call. But ball was late and underthrown.

I did notice that only TaQuan and Lucas Johnson were repping plays before the game so we have a clear #2 QB, at least as long as Jordan is out. Hopefully, we blow out Duke and get all QB's some reps

We were trying. We didn't connect on some earlier ones. You can understand why CPJ would be gun shy about it when it keeps not working, but then feeling like he's got to take what's being offered. I guess it's making those tough decisions that explains why he gets paid $8k/day, every day.

Still hilarious to me that we continue to be one of the best 3rd and long teams in the country every year despite everybody’s favorite drumbeat that our offense isn’t built to handle it.

Dude, that 3rd down play did not result in a first down

öööö off. 2 completed passes - both bombs - is a gimmicky pass offense. A nice victory anchored by the defense.
And we had two more plays that should've been TDs with more accurate passes or better WR play. The pass plays underneath were well covered all game. VT picked their poison, you can't blame them for it either after the Virginia game and arguably we weren't nearly as successful executing it on Saturday as we should have been.

I am still amazed at how close to the line all the VT defenders were prior to the snap. No deep safety help over the top at all. It was just a foot race our receivers needed to win and our QB needed to make a good throw. They were just daring us to throw the deep ball. I don't think they thought we could.
Had it rained, perhaps their strategy works. We have little short passing game and footwork and timing would be off by both QB and WR on long balls. I hope we see a nice noon game for UGAg with dry weather.
