Tommy Bowden fired?

Wow

"They just told us. It's what he deserved," said senior quarterback Cullen Harper

Jeff Harper, an offensive lineman on Georgia's 1980 national championship team, said Bowden's dismissal was justified. "I'd call it karma," he said. "I thought it needed to be done.

Inmates running the asylum? Talk about the ultimate stage mom, or dad in this case.

I guess Harper's going to start now? If I was Korn, I'd request a transfer immediately.

Well we don't have to worry about Korn anymore.

I'm sure a large part of this firing was due to Bowden's QB Switch Shenanigans.

so do you think that they'll keep the decision to start willie korn...or go back to cullen

I could see Swinney sitting down with the two QBs and telling Korn that his time will come but that Harper is the man for now and Bowden unfortunately screwed him.

Don't be surprised if Harper is the starter next week.

"This was a headline for about 30 seconds. Romo's pinkie quickly put Bowden into perspective"

I laughed...pretty damn hard. Mostly because it's true.

This opens a whole new can of worms for our upcoming game. On one hand, the players could be like "whatever, this season is over anyway" and not get well prepared for our game. On the other hand, the 'us against the world' mentality should be firmly in place now. This game scares me now much moreso than it did this morning. There is just a huge X-factor as to what the Clemson player's attitudes will be. If Cullen Harper is reinstated as starter then I fully expect Clemson to come out and play with everything they've got. This game could be a real battle. I hope Tech players can get their focus back and get their rears in gear after the embarassment from this past weekend.

Harper struggled playing behind an inexperienced offensive line this season. His father, Jeff Harper, an offensive lineman on Georgia's 1980 national championship team, said Bowden's dismissal was justified.

"I'd call it karma," he said. "I thought it needed to be done. I think anytime a head coach or someone in a leadership position starts to place blame on his coaches and players, it weakens their respect on the team. His past experiences have shown he's done that."

Damn. Talk about throwing your coach under the bus. Then again he's the son of a Dawg, so what else should you expect.

I can see Cullen put back in the top of the depth chart but I'm sure their staff will give Korn a chance to win the job.

Why couldn't they wait? I was hoping we'd get to swing the ax.

This really does make this game wildly unpredictable now, doesn't it? If Clemson had promoted their offensive line coach, I'd feel much better.

The timing is a little odd to me. I guess it took 3 days to come up with the cash. It would seem that it would have benefited the rest of the staff to know this before monday morning of a game week. Especially coming off of a Thursday night game.

Bowden threw him under the bus first, which is more inexcusable for a college coach to call out a player IMO.

He implied that Harper was protecting his injured shoulder too much in a direct statement to the press. He called him out for not "lowering the sore shoulder to get the first down."

If you had a Heisman candidate, even if struggling, would you want him to risk permanent injury for a single first down in an early game?

Spence also out as OC.

Swinney was given the option of retaining Spence, and chose to let him go as well. He'll backfill the position with a grad student. But it's likely that someone else will takeover play-calling duties (i.e. not the grad student).

Doesn't the WR coach basically answer to the OC, though? So he just fired his boss?
