Tommy Bowden fired?

Swinney was assistant HC/WR coach

He reported to Bowden. He was an assistant HC and also the WR coach, he didn't report to Spence.

Wow just checked the news! This is great news for us this weekend. I feel bad for Bowden and his family but I'm sure he'll have something to keep him company on the way to the bank. We knew it was coming this year any way if he didn't win.

Reminds me of us with Gailey - Why the crap did he get such a sweet contract renewal at the end of last year when everyone saw this coming and it was only a matter of time? Why did Gailey get such a sweet contract renewal when everyone saw him getting fired sooner or later?

I don't know how I feel about the timing, but when Clemson didn't start out beating Alabama, I sort of knew that Tommy Bowden was probably winding down to the end of his time at Clemson.

What's the early list of their candidates?

Because David Braine was leaving soon and he was good buddies with Gailey. Also, Gailey probably wouldn't have been fired if Braine had remained the AD.

Muschamp, Skip Holtz, Bobby Johnson, Lane Kiffin, hopefully Terry Bowden...

There's a classy young man. Offspring of a UGA cur. Do you think he was a little disgruntled after being benched? Classic Clempsen piece o'$hit.
Let turmoil reign!
Well, as has been mentioned, if the HC had been calling me out personally in the paper, I would probably have said the same thing.

Nice.

I wonder if Skip Holtz would leave East Carolina for Clemson? Maybe he has some nice pipelines in the area built, I guess.

He'd better get out of there when his stock is high, judging by how the season is turning out for him.

It may already be too late for Skip Holtz to get out on a high. EC has lost 3 straight to NCSt, Houston, and UVA. That win they got over VT now looks like a fluke, and that high riding they did the first 3 weeks of the season has gone down in a bath of flames.

Didn't see this in the thread but it looks like OC Rob Spence is gone with Bowden.

I understand the argument either way about them replacing their coach and the "us vs. the world" mentality as someone mentioned...but look at how bowl games usually go when you replace the head coach before them. I'm pretty sure they lose about 90% of the time...This is great news because now they will be scrambling all week long looking to grow used to a new coach and probably won't be prepared to stop our offense.

Plus we still do have our defense; and with spiller out and a big question at QB I doubt their offense will produce much.

If we block on the OL, which I believe we will, we should win going away.

as an aside, did anyone hear idiot Corso's comment on Muschamp before the Texas-Oklahoma games??

he said (paraphrasing) "Muschamp has those guys playing all out, I mean playing with abandon. They are flying to the ball and wont quit. You can't coach that."

uhhh, what?

I did hear that. My first thought was, well, guess you can't credit Muschamp for that then :laugher:

Clemson is in a similar position to the one we were in last year. It's a big decision for the AD to make regarding the direction of the program.

Nothing would make me laugh harder than Clemson hiring Skip Holtz...

You can't get the Dawg out of Cullen Harper, even if you send him to Clemson. His poor play helps get Bowden fired, then he says he deserved to be fired. Nice guy.

Exactly my thought. I can't believe he's a Senior; it's obvious that he still has a lot of maturing to do. With that kind of upbringing, no wonder.
