Transfer Portal Tracker

This is a flipping joke... guys transferring in for 1 freaking year as a Junior just to hit portal again 1 year later must likely because someone wants to give him a extra 100k or something
There are a lot of losers who switch jobs every year even if they are only going to make 20 dollars more a week. They eventually run through anybody that would hire them in the field in which they work.

transfer portal is like free agent in nfl— you get some and lose some. IMO, as fans, we need to get used to it. Many of them are going to leave after 1 year. As long as they contributed while they are here and represent our school well, I will always be thankful for them. I will miss R-height on saturdays next year for sure

Damn, he is our best pass rusher. It feels like we lose our best pass rusher every year. The days of building a defensive line are over. Tech needs to find some group of five DL overachievers pronto.

The hard part is that unless the coaches knew Height was leaving before today, now our portal needs just changed a bit. Things are so fluid.

Romello Height in portal
Reportedly going to Texas Tech. That's a head scratcher.

It is barely like free agency in the NFL because there is no limits to any of it, no contracts, and no responsibility to the schools on the part of the players.

Then stop paying HC’s 5-$12 million a year. Combined with AD’s, conference commissioner’s and NCAA corporate level making $1-5 million plus a year.

Can’t fault the SA’s for the adults in room creating this chaos.
Not blaming the SA.

I'm waiting to see how long it takes for the non revenue generating sports to die off. Football and Men's basketball fund them all.

Which has always been the case. Problem is, to your point, there is no longer the revenue to distribute to cover for the losses of the non revenue sports.

I fully expect the smart people in the room, combined with conference commissioner’s, AD’s etc to hammer something out before the 2025 season. Guardrails and rules need to be established to sort of control the chaos a little.

You could probably fix a lot of it without even messing with NIL .. just limit the transfers. One as an undergraduate. One as a graduate.

at 265 Petty may need over a year to bulk up enough to play OL.
perhaps he can play DE while he's bulking up.........

Yeah our DL situation went from a 4-alarm fire to 5-alarm.

Anyone have any case for how we're going to have a decent DL next year? We'd need several good DL out of the portal, and, inexplicably, we just let one go. It makes me think there is misprioritizing in our roster management. We're recruiting WRs and OL when DL is the overriding need.

it's the wild west right now. this can't be overstated.
And yet it seems so easy to fix. Honestly. Get 1,2,3,4 year binding offers between the SA & school established. SA’s are offered those guarantees based on the terms of the contract, and it also provides a peace of mind for both parties. This would also hold the SA accountable for not meeting the on the field/court part of the deal, where the SA would not be paid in full if the output based on the contract is not met. I bet this would lower the “rumored” amount being paid to SA’s.
