Finally a coach speaks up. The Transfer Portal should not open until the Playoffs and the bowls are complete. The whole process is ridiculous but there is no reason for the portal to open until the season in finished.PSU backup Pribula skipping CFP, entering portal
Penn State backup quarterback Beau Pribula is set to enter the transfer portal and leave the team ahead of the College Football Playoff, citing an "overlapping CFB playoff and transfer portal timeline."www.espn.com
100%. It's highly annoying.I think I'm done with being gracious about guys transferring. If they're going to act purely in their self-interest, without regard for their schools/teams, then why shouldn't I act in my self-interest as a fan? You hurt my team and I'm not wishing you well or honoring your time playing for us.
Sometimes guys have circumstances beyond money that cause them to transfer, but it's really not that hard to say why you're leaving.
Basically if they have graduated or they’re not getting significant playing time, it’s fine. Otherwise, it’s a buzz kill.I think I'm done with being gracious about guys transferring. Bowl games (non-CFP) are already a joke. Why would the rules be set up to water down your product even further? Finally a coach speaks up. Yes, we’ve already melted down over thisFormer Georgia Tech Edge Rusher Romello Height Receives Early Prediction To Land At Top Big 12 School
Georgia Tech took a hit yesterday when edge rusher Romello Height decided to enter the transfer portal. The pass rush was not a strength for the Yellow Jacketswww.si.com
Was this in here already?
Probably, since that SI blogger is just a Tech guy that regurgitates content from elsewhere, including here.Former Georgia Tech Edge Rusher Romello Height Receives Early Prediction To Land At Top Big 12 School

The only problem is players need to enroll in their new school by the time the new semester starts. Finally a coach speaks up. Why do they "need" to do this? From a football perspective (which is the only one that counts in this situation), it's so that they can participate in Spring practice. First of all, Spring practice isn't some hard prerequisite to play in the Fall. It's a "nice to have," especially for an upperclassman who's already proven himself at the collegiate level. But even if this is deemed to be some sort of dealbreaker, just create a new rule that if a player is accepted onto a team in the late winter/early spring Portal, they can participate in Spring practice as if they're enrolled. This simply isn't some intractable problem where we have to accept incentivizing players to quit in the middle of their season. The only problem is players need to enroll in their new school by the time the new semester starts.
I’ve felt this way for the past 40 years once players became non-students. I sat in many classes with players from our Natty team and Final Four team and a lot of them weren’t at GT for an education. They were simply players who had no avenue to transfer. That’s when I stopped caring about players. I root for the 11 uniforms.I think I'm done with being gracious about guys transferring. Tech fans: Georgia Tech is a real school and our student-athletes come here for the degree first. Not everyone ends up making a career in the NFL, our guys get that. Finally a coach speaks up. Tech fans after open Pay to Play, unlimited free agency and widespread quitting on your team: The portal should only open after the playoff is over in late January. The players don't need time to find their next school and enroll for spring semester, they aren't real students.
