I can only think he believed they were going to hand him the job. Their QB roster has a RS Freshman that he was supposedly competing with for the starting position, another RS Freshman, two RS Sophomores, and a true Freshman.

Assuming this (and seems likely), I kind of feel bad for the kid and wonder if they didn't sell him on a solid shot at starting then pull the rug out. Hope he lands somewhere where he is appreciated as much as he was here.
