Never
NFL had like 8 of the 10 top broadcasts on TV last year. NFL will be fine
For now. You gonna tell the masses of alums and fans of Michigan, Ohio State, mutt fans....tec
... that they are better off pulling for Detroit, Cleveland, and Atlanta?

Because if college football just says "öööö it, play as many years as you like", the NFL becomes the USFL
This is a legitamate risk. College could provide direct competition to the NFL. The level of established fandom in college is something the NFL has never had to worry about with these startup leagues where the Jersey City Stallions played the Memphis Meercats with a roster full of NFL washouts.

I see you never lived anywhere in the US but the southeast
NFL is WAAAAAYYY bigger than college in more than 75% of the country imo

The NFL has way more money and will continue to have way more money. A top tier NFL QB makes $40-50 million per year which is about what a top tier college football team is paying for the entire roster.

If / when they cut down to 40-50 teams, they are going to end up in no man's land where they have a nearly identical, but inferior product to the NFL and on the other end whatever emerges from the 50-100 teams left out will offer a differentiated product more akin to traditional college football.

I have no doubt that the 40-50 teams in the super league will retain the largest portion of their hardcore following and do well, but they are not going retain all of the college football revenue with a smaller denominator.

For now. If the South loses interest because of Florida, Alabama, Clemson, UGAg, Texas, aTm.....decide to challenge the pros, nobody outside the NE will GAF about the Patriots, especially alums.

CFB is more popular in the south than in the rest of the country. NFL is not at risk from CFB.
You get to the northeast - Philly, NYC, Boston - media markets and it's NFL.
As a kid, I didn't realize Monday Night Football was such a big deal ... to the bars.

Holy shit, what he was doing to that poor little guy in the red on his highlight reel was brutal.

The last Princeton guy was pretty good. I bet this kid talked to him about the experience.

Trey Horne and Austin Dean are still listed on Tech’s roster even though they have supposedly entered the portal. Every other player that has entered, besides those two, is no longer shown on roster. Any clue what that means? There was no real announcement on Horne, I don’t even think KQ ever posted anything about it. I know we seem to have plentiful WRs, but Horne sounded like he was going to be a player.

Maybe they came back?

I agree with this right now. I think JJ makes a good point though. But both college and the NFL are part of a culture. They could both be screwed (or gain) in the long run depending on how they adapt to the culture. I believe the majority of folks that watch NFL and CFB aren’t watching solely because they love football.
