Travis Bell

Coach Chan Gailey planned to make a change if his No. 1 kicker missed on his first field goal attempt, and he responded by going 3-of-3. Bell also connected from 38 yards, then made another from 39 early the fourth quarter to tie it at 16.

"It's probably the best day I've ever had kicking," Bell said. "Everything was right down the middle. And they weren't chip shots, either."

Good for Travis. I don't know if the coaches handled the kicking any different this week but they should keep doing it. All of the kicks were important at that point in the game.

I am real happy for Bell. He had a tuff stretch there, not all his fault. It is great to see him back !

My seats are 7 rows behind where the kickers keep warmed up. Bell has some friends that sit in this area....the look on his face when he came to the sideline and smiled up at his friends after he nailed his 3rd was priceless. Absolutely priceless.

I jumped on Travis a bit when I started this thread but I felt like he was not living up to his potential. I am so proud of him for stepping up, his fg's were huge!!!

Keep up the great work Travis, and if gum chewing helps then I will go to Sam's Club and buy you a 400 lb crate of chewing gum.

GO JACKETS!!!

This is a very interesting Thread! I started to think about all the kickers I have watched a Tech and a guy who jumps out at me is former kicker Dan Burnett. I know he only truly started for 1 season but backed up Luke Manget for 3 and caused Phillip Newman to transfer. After some research Burnett has the 2nd most FG's made in a season only behind Manget and Sisson, 4th best career FG percentage, and 3rd best single season percentage @ 81%. I also remeber an article in the AJC where Manget was quoted as saying I knew he was better than than me the only question was could he handle the pressure. I think he proved that with 2 big kicks @ FSU and almost an opportunity to win that game. I believe he is still playing in the AFL. He should rank at the top of kickers at Tech and if he had started a few more seasons he might have made a push at the best. Great Job Travis!!!
