Try on the rumor...

I'm guessing if we're interviewing someone from South Carolina it would be Tyrone Nix, not Spurrier. Would be nice, though.

Definitely my first thought. Hopefully a courtesy interview because I'm not sold on Ty Nix.. they'd probably be happy we took him away a la our Nix to Miami.

Plus there is a rumor that SC wants Nix out anyways and wants to replace him with Tenuta. Talk about a coaching carousel.

The OBC would be awesome but if click clack was pissed about the Cocks academic restrictions what would he do about The Hill?

let's see.

coached at rabid SEC school.....check.. won SEC championship...check check check check check check.. won MNC...check.. Coached at NFL...check.. coached at rabid SEC school with delusional fans....check.. have a fan base that understands his HATE for UGAG....???.. have a DC who is his defensive equal...J T??? have a program that again is perennial MNC contender(starts by winning conference title, OBC understood this well).... well it won't happen at USC and the ACC/GT are a great chance for that don't you think?I likes it the more I thinks about it...

We are not talking to Spurrier...but I do think he is a great head coach.

However...what do some think of this 3rd year at South Carolina...a school in the SEC with 90,000 fans every Saturday filling seats...yet his record is:

8-5
7-5
6-6

It seems he is going backwards.

Is there not a silver bullet out there?

how do USC fans feel about him? That may be a good question as well. Or maybe who's gonna step up and offer the $$$$?? I work at Delta so I'm not a fat enough of cat, haha.

He virtually got on his knees begging for the Tech job after Peppa got fired. I could possibly see him stringing us along just for some payback.

I don't really think he would do that, but I also don't see him talking to us either. Wouldn't mind being wrong about the latter though!

Most of my family are USC fans, and they love Spurrier. The fanbase is saying next year is when a lot of the real talent comes online, and this year's early season performance was just a prelude. I'm pretty sure USC would do what it takes to keep him in Columbia.

I think I would die of happiness. Also: no chance in hell.

This had to be for Tyrone Nix, not Spurrier. There is no way we could get Spurrier. Zero. None. I will bet 5 bottles of scotch against someone else's 1 that we do not get Spurrier.

I don't want Tyrone Nix as a head coach, either.

After living in Columbia for about 20 months I can honestly attest to the fact that there'd be no reason to leave here from his standpoint. I mean you have an entire fanbase completely enamored with him regardless of outcome and in my opinion are in the typical SEC mindset where every year is the next year to win the nat'l championship. It also goes without saying this fanbase will seem to throw any amount of money to have the illusion of winning. Hell theres no fewer than 4 condo complexes being finished at the moment with people paying 250k for a 2 bedroom 1000 sq ft condo. You won't see that in Atlanta no matter what.

For the record, I'm completely instigating in this thread - I know he won't be on the GT sidelines next year. However, the largest feather in USC's cap I'm pretty sure we can match - membership at Augusta National.

A 2-BR condo for only $250 per sf??? Where do I sign up? Seriously, I pay $40 psf annually in rent for my 2-BR apt.

Sorry to hijack. Southern home prices blow my mind.

Well, all I know is the road to the BCS is much easier in the ACC than the SEC. Not that there aren't tough teams in the ACC, but he wouldn't have to battle ugag, TN and FL every year just to make the championship game.

Broke by that reputable source, Pigskin Football Guys.

Take a look at this information I received from an unnamed source close to LSU's situation:
1. Bo Pelini - hired as Nebraska's new football coach and will be announced either this afternoon or tomorrow. Will not coach in the SEC Championship game.
2. Jon Tenuta, GA Tech's D Coordinator will be hired as LSU's new Defensive Coordinator making somewhere around $600,000 a year.
3. Les Miles - Has accepted the Michigan head coaching job and will announce this sometime Sunday or Monday after the SEC Championship game.
4. LSU is in talks with Steve Spurrier about their upcoming head coaching vacancy

I guess if Pelini is named Nebraska's coach this scenario will grow legs.

If #1 is true and #4 is true then how could #2 be true...why would they hire/offer Tenuta a job seeing that they lose their HC & dictate who their DC was going to be....just curious...sounds fishy.

And I'm sure it is fishy and I don't stand by it, but I don't think Spurrier would have a problem w/ Tenuta as his DC, I've seen a few posts with people saying Spurrier wanted Tenuta. Like I said, if #1 happens then I may read more into this.

EVERYTHING at this point is pure speculation IMO.

I just hope this ends before I lose my job for being on the internet all freakin day.

I understand that....I wish it would all end soon as well....most of all I WANT GT to be in a better position then we were before!!!

Cool, so if there were any credibility to all this it would be reasonable for DRAD to swoop in with an angle that would bring those 2 guys together here @ GT. IOW, both of those parties have already had the seeds planted of working together, he only has to make one hire! Well, actually, I guess you could say he has to "rehire" JT in a sense but since he already lives here....I think the angle of winning in the ACC and bringing bonuses (for doing so) into the picture could be the answer. Sort of a commission loaded type contract perhaps? IDK...are we trying to fit a square peg into a round hole here guys?
