Try on the rumor...

His contract is until 2012, his buy out is 500k per year left, so I guess the total buy out would be 2.5M?

I'll write that check, but you'll have to do me a favor and not cash it until next Friday.

are we trying to fit a square peg into a round hole here guys?

Personally, I think we are. I don't see Spurrier ever leaving the SEC other than for some VERY high profile job. If the LSU job is open, I think he has a very good chance at it and I think he would want it...just this dumba$$es opinion.

I don't want the old ball coach.

I want the new ball coach.

I want someone to start a 15 or 20 year dynasty, not someone to win a few years.

All right men! ...LISten ...up ... :wow:

If you were smart you would want both. Why settle for either one or the other?

All I'm saying is, I don't think this is all about money. If we had the money for Spurrier or Saban or one of the "top coaches", I don't think we should jump at it. Bringing in someone with less experience but who is talented and can go somewhere with the program is the right call, I think, regardless of the cost.

If Hatcher's the right coach, but he cost 3mil, we should make it happen.

If Spurrier were available for 1mil, I don't know that he would be the right guy.

Defnitely none of that to look at at Tech.

Have you been down there recently. That has changed alot since I graduated in '84. The girls have a saying down there now that tickles me. My daughter is there now.

The odds are good but the goods are odd.

After living in Columbia for about 20 months I can honestly attest to the fact that there'd be no reason to leave here from his standpoint. I mean you have an entire fanbase completely enamored with him regardless of outcome .....

Bet your ass OBC isn't statisfied with that. He wants to win and you can't at USC. He knows it by now. Don't believe me, look at history. It can't and won't be done. The state of SC is truly the armpit of America and there is just too much competition and nothing special to offer at USC. Just the way its, not trying to be mean. He left the Redskins after realizing he couldn't get it done there. He'll do the same if the right situation pops up. It might be GT.

GT has tons more to offer that SC never can or will (stadium size and number of fans aside). The last 2 good coaches proved you can win big at Tech (Ross, O'Leary). Winning is more important than stadium size. OBC would not have to rebuild at all at Tech. He would step into a bowl quality team. He could probably have Tech contending for a BCS bowl birth in year 2 given the strength of that Freshman class.

Given the strength of the ACC...you can at least compete for a BCS bowl birth in one year.

What does it say about a program if they can't win big with Holtz or Spurrier?
