Plus I’ve been a Tulane fan for a very long timeI assure you there was no euphoria for BL in 1994.
I actually have been since I saw his teams at Ga Southern particularly when they played us. Have thought he was a great coach and a possible good hire. He was on my list as a possible for new coach. I'm pulling for Key but so GT - reach a preliminary deal with a coach and get so cheap he doesn't come then he beats USC with a non-power 5 team. CLASSIC!!!!!!! oh well, his age is of concern.
Had we hired Fritz, I think he would have been GT's oldest head coach when he started his first season (2023). Has GT ever had a 63 year old head football coach?
Heisman?
People back then looked 80 when they were 50. Abe Vigoda was in his mid 50's during Barney MillerHeisman was in his early 50's when he left GT. He died at age 66.
Do bullfrogs have wings ?Congrats to The Green Wave.
epic collapse by usc. If they make Tulane take more than 30 seconds to score up 15, they win. If they catch the kickoff, they at least go to OT, probably win. If they get a yard instead of losing 1 and taking a safety they at least go to OT.
Yeah, old is out and new is in....oops.He wasn't on my radar until he was on Tech's radar. I became very impressed after studying up. He has done a lot with very little. I would have been very happy if Tech had hired him. That said, I think we've got the right guy, at the right time, in the right situation.
But I've become a fan of him and Tulane and see no reason to not root for them if Tech isn't the opponent.
That's a lot of ifs for a supposed mismatch of talent with a shiny new young coach!Congrats to The Green Wave.

He was the extremely logical choice to follow CPJ as our coach to transition us out of the option, great move Stansbury! If we would have fired Fritz 5 years ago it could have saved us a lot of heartache and image where we could be right now. Last year a hurricane and Chip Long are the reason they were 2-10. Fritz is an amazing coach and being successful with the players he has. He plays to his players strengths and changes as he needs to for them to be successful. He's not stuck in his ways like some coaches. (Jimbo cough cough) He would have been an amazing fit 5 years ago. He helped Georgia Southern transition from the 3O with imitate success. I'm happy with Key but still thinking of what could have been.
Very well might have been a really good fit....for 4 years. Anyway, we did the right thing with CBK. Neither statement takes away anything for Fritz or Key, imo.Tulane and Fritz are extremely easy to root for and I'm glad they won, and hope they keep being successful. That doesn't mean that a Georgia Tech program on life support and Fritz are a good fit.
Given where we were as the season played out, I agree that Key was the best choice. However, had we hired Fritz in late 2018 it would have been possibly the best hire we could have made. However, he had just brought the Greenies back from the dead and no one could know what he was about to do. At that time he was a career lower-level coach with a string of success at those places.Very well might have been a really good fit....for 4 years. Anyway, we did the right thing with CBK. This game and alot of other upsets makes the Horned Frogs interesting. These underdogs are coming to play.Tulane pulls it out! Amazing finish! Go Green Wave!

Sorry, I'm just a Willie Fritz and a Green Wave fan. Big respect for what they have done this year. Happy for them and their program. They've been through a lot and it's nice to see that underdog program turning it around. What a game!
GO GREEN WAVE!!!
GO JACKETS!!!!
