TULANE!

Looking at his records at Tulane, if he were here at GT, the term 'mediocrity' would have been thrown around. Last season he went 2-10 which would have put him in the hot seat here. Sometimes in college football you have to have a little but of luck and be free of the injury bug. He had those two things going for him this season. Tulane is a place where you have 'more time' to get it right. Happy for him but I think for us, Key was the best option going forward. 1) He was a GT player, alum, son 2) He is from the Saban and O'Leary coaching tree 3) He gets GT. 4). He gets GT. 3 & 4 are hard to do and we thought CGC got GT but he just didn't get the HC role of it.

Brent Key is only the right option for us because we saw him win a few games, he loves GT, and he was cheap. Willie Fritz is a great coach. He has proven it at every stop. Fans not wanting him here was the craziest thing about GT football I’ve seen in a while.

Luck was not part of Fritz's success at Tulane. He and his staff did an excellent job there.....period. And yes, Key was the best option. These are not zero sum topics.

Imo, you may be selling Key a bit short, but on Fritz you are right on, especially the every stop comment.

Wilford Brimley was 51 in 1985 when the film Cocoon was made. The other three old guys were 77, 74, and 77. Brimley looked every bit as old as they did.

Isn't he the one who ate all the pine cones and twigs for breakfast?

(I may have him confused with Euell Gibbons)

Euell Gibbons was the one eating pine tree bark. Brimley was the one endorsing oatmeal.

I had a friend growing up who ate pine tree bark. Went to Tech, too. Later did his PhD in applied math. I concluded that he is just a brilliant guy, but I could never line those two activities up with that conclusion.
