UGA just got SCREWED

UGA fans I'm sure were wanting the SECCG, but it was presented in the media, --by Bark and his cohorts-- that UGA might be better off sitting out the SECCG in terms of either the BCSCG or Rose Bowl. But neither happened.

I think it's pretty obvious that UGA would have been much better off having a chance to knock off LSU in the SECCG. The media was really off on this one.

No. The Rose lost OSU, and the Sugar lost LSU.

The Rose had first pick on a team to replace OSU, and they chose Illinois as an at-large BCS team. The Sugar had second pick and picked UGA as an at-large BCS team to replace LSU.

The Rose did pick Illinois over UGA.

Not totally correct. The Sugar has the rights to any at-large SEC team when the SEC champ is going to BCS title game. The only way the Rose gets UGA is if the Sugar allows them to go.
Not going to happen. I know ESPN didn't bring up all of the facts and just glazed over everything, but there are guide lines.

From the BCS website-

3. If a bowl loses a host team to the NCG, then such bowl shall select a replacement team from among the automatic-qualifying teams and the at-large teams before any other selections are made. If two bowls lose host teams to the NCG, each bowl will get a replacement pick before any other selections are made. In such case, the bowl losing the No. 1 team gets the first replacement pick, and the bowl losing the No. 2 team gets the second replacement pick. If the Rose Bowl loses both the Big Ten and Pac-10 champions to the NCG, it will receive two replacement picks.
A bowl choosing a replacement team may not select any of the following:
A. A team in the NCG;
B. The host team for another BCS Bowl;
C. When two bowls lose host teams (rose and sugar), then the bowl losing the number one team (rose/Big 10) may not select a replacement team from the same Conference as the number two team (sugar/SEC), unless the bowl (sugar) losing the number two team consents.

They got just what they deserved. They were scared to play LSU in the Conf. Champ. and said " it's better if we don't go, then we can be in the National Championship race." Not playing cost them a chance for the National Championship, and they were penalized. Aint it great?

know alot about sports, do you? :laugher:
