Under Armour has terminated its record $280 million partnership with UCLA, the company announced on Saturday. The Bruins signed the deal with Under Armour in 2016, and it was the biggest apparel deal in college athletics at the time of it was signed.

"We have been paying for marketing benefits that we have not received for an extended time period," the company said in a statement. "The agreement allows us to terminate in such an event and we are exercising that right."

Hadn’t even thought about this angle of the pandemic. Wonder if that’s the first of several dominos to fall. Can’t even begin to imagine how much of a cluster that would be. I imagine UCLA is one of their flagship schools too with how competitive UCLA is over a number of sports. Off the cuff it seems odd that they would be the first to get dropped. Maybe because football isn’t their strength right now and UA is prioritizing football as more likely to get played (and sooner)?

$280 million freaking dollars to ONE school. Next time you buy a cheap ass Under Armor/Nike/Adidas product from Gina, think about that.

Under Armour had made several mistakes in marketing that have positioned themselves as the new Russell Athletic of the major 3 apparel sports suppliers. Nike, Adidas, UA.
Wearing UA nowadays borders on wearing Affliction. Nike is for old farts who still worship Michael Jordan. 3 Stripe Life

Just take a look at UA’s stock performance over the past 5 years.
