Update on the UCF game

If you guys think it's going to be easy to beat Duke this year, on the road after they have a BYE and Army, sorry, you're kidding yourselves. Tech might win that day, but gone are the days where Tech can just show up and beat Duke 35-10. Duke's won 2 of 3 and without hero ball from Justin Thomas, it would be 3 in a row.

If you can lose to Tennessee playing well, you can also lose to Miami, Clemson, VT or UGA playing pretty well. And let's face it, Tech loses a conference game it shouldn't every year, so.....

5-6 (4-4 ACC) is not out of the realm of possibility.

I'd like to hear their reasoning on why they won't come to Atlanta. I completely understand canceling a game in Florida; just don't get why they don't try to work something out to travel. LSU and UT did that for a game a few years ago. Play it in Atlanta, general admission, give UCF a percentage of the gate to compensate for travel expense. Half their fans are already here.

Based off what I've seen so far from all of our opponents, we should be favored against everyone but Clemson which should be a tossup.
Clemson's defense is scary good. I'm not sure Auburn had an open receiver all night. Their new QB is pretty good too.

We got slighted by the announcers of that game. They were looking at Clemson's schedule and circling the tough opponents, skipped right over us. Then they said, watch out for this game too and went back and circled NC State. ??

I look forward to watching GT every Saturday of the fall and HATE waiting through our bye week. I don't care who we're playing, I want to see the jackets on Saturday. I hope we don't get screwed out of our home game because of this. Insurance should not pay for this BS claim if they are planning on such a payout.

  • ESPN hates you.

And more importantly, ESPN hates your team.

ESPN will go to any length to diss your team. Any length. You know that GT coozie you used to have but can’t seem to find? ESPN took it. Because ESPN hates GT. That is, if GT is your team.

It doesn't matter who you pull for.

Whoever your favorite team is, ESPN hates it. ESPN hates anything you love, and loves anything you hate.

ESPN hates your dad. Unless you hate your dad. In which case ESPN loves your dad.

If you love bread, ESPN is 'anti-sandwich.' If you hate end-pieces, ESPN will run a special about end pieces. Mark May will hold up two hard, crusty-ass end pieces and hype the sh#t out of them all year long. Bob Ley will run a special called ‘Outside The Loaf.’ Ivan Maisel will write a column with a pun-filled headline like 'The piece to the end puzzle' and mind-force you to read it and then email him in anger about it.

If you were for the Union, ESPN was for the Confederacy.

If you had a Sega Genesis, ESPN had a Super Nintendo. If you had a Super Nintendo, ESPN had Sega Genesis.

If you liked like Tombstone, ESPN liked Wyatt Earp.

If you preferred Use Your Illusion I, ESPN preferred Use Your Illusion II.

If you pulled for Dan, ESPN pulled for Dave.

If you think OJ is guilty, ESPN is black.

ESPN hates everything you stand for. Unless you stand for something else. Then ESPN hates that too.

Pitt - 0.8
UNC - 0.7 they suck this year
Miami - 0.6 Their new QB sucks and they'll be coming off playing FSU.
WF - 0.9
Clem - 0.5 Their defense is good still, but offense is way worse. Our offense is better.
UVA - 0.7
VT - 0.6 bud foster is the only thing they have going for them.
Duke - 0.6 they're better this year than last
Jawja - 0.6 squeaking out a 1 pt win over 4-8 nd, start the parade!!!

GT = 7-4

I feel like this is literally the reason why schools get insurance policies, so they will probably pay out.

I'm bummed that we won't get to see GT this weekend too, but some folks in this thread should chill out. A lot of the people involved in playing and putting in this game on were affected by the hurricane and likely had friends and family who were even more affected. Sometimes there are things more important than a non conference football game.

What does "affected" mean here? Had the power go out for a day? A big branch fell in the front yard and they have to pick it up? Waah

These storms are like being sick. If you have cancer, that's unfortunate. But if you have a booboo just put an adhesive bandage on it and get on! I'm almost sure in this case the vast majority of UCF's team is completely unaffected.

A day?

Central Floridians who lost power when Hurricane Irma slammed into the region may be without electricity for days or even weeks, utility officials warned Monday.

More than 6.5 million Florida customers were without power Monday, including more than 870,000 in Orange, Seminole, Lake, Osceola and Brevard counties, according to the state’s Division of Emergency Management.

UCF is in Orange county. Their classes are cancelled until Thursday and students were just starting to be allowed back into their dorms tonight.

If you think the vast majority of UCF's team, most of whom come from Florida and likely still have family living there, is completely unaffected...well, I disagree. The fact that all the students were kicked off campus and out of their dorms until tonight alone indicates this wasn't just power being out for a day.

2.3 million in Orlando alone. I bet the total population of those counties is over 5mil. And I'm sure the school still has power. Mom and dad not having power just means they wouldn't get to watch you lose to Tech. It's not like people lost power in Siberia in the middle of winter here

I ninja-edited it in, but students were kicked out of their dorms and are just being allowed back in tonight. Classes are cancelled until Thursday. I think you are really downplaying the effects of this.

Not saying they're dying or anything but I'm not surprised they can't effectively prepare for and put on a football game on Saturday.

Wish we could play this week, but kids need the rest.

Sadly, during halftime festivities, I understand UCF was going to retire
GO'L diploma.

But the good thing is, if we are good enough to earn a bowl bid to a Florida venue, a lot of our fans will not be able to say they can not go due to the fact we have already played in Fla. once this year.
