Vote of confidence poll requested for Gailey....

Hey ncjacket, what do you mean by "turn this around"? I hope we win all the rest of our games, but let's be honest with ourselves. I predicted we would go 8-4 before the season started. That was called conservative by others at the time. I would love to see us go 8-4, but it looks very unlikely now. We could very easily go 5-7, keep Gailey, and have a fair to poor recruiting class. That is not a slame, that is just a very possible scenario.
.
My revised prediction would be 7-5 or 6-6, with an outside shot at a bowl of little importance, keep Gailey, and have a fair to poor recruiting class.
.
I don't see us beating UGA or FSU, and if we do beat one or the other, then I will be the first to admit that I was very wrong (after I stop celebrating and sober up).

Expectations cloud your thinking many times, whether realistic or not. Many of you thought that this was a slam-bam team which would run through the season IGNORING that we lost one of the best QBs in the HISTORY of TECH,one of the top DLs ever,THE TOP receiver in Tech history statistically, and an ALL ACC TB,changed the coaching staff, and have the "bad" year for away games at NC,STaTe, and CLEM.I remember thinking when we lost to UGA 18-17 when GOL was first here, what a dumb-ass for his decisions.Well ,he got better.
That being said, this season has not brought a lot of confidence. The Off is erratic, now the DEF is gone on vacation, and special teams have not been special. But it is too early to write off the staff. We lost a game we should have won ,now we have to step up and win a game in which we are the underdogs. If we get some consistent QB play then "WAL-AH" ,success.Ain't going to be easy but its possible.Time will tell but not now.

BDGhost, I don't have an exact record in mind, I'm not one to predict things like that. What I mean by turnaround is to start playing solid, good football, with a more dangerous offense. I would hope we keep our bowl streak alive and have a good recruiting year.

I'm talking about more than just this year. If we can look back in 2-3 years and feel good about where we are then this will have been a successful transition IMO.

BTW it's kind of funny in a way to look at how things have degenerated around here. Most "experts" picked us between 3-5 in the conference and had real questions about how we would do. In particular the ??s at QB made most think we would struggle to some degree. Most of us waived off those comments because we KNEW better. Well, looks like they may know more than we thought. Now it's all the new staff's fault. Is that because they can't coach, because we are suffering through what everyone else could see from the outside, or because we were all wrong.

I'm willling to wait a while to see what plays out. Hopefully we get this QB thing straightened out because to me it's still our big problem. I still believe we can win 8+ with the players we have but we need to play to our capability, not how we've been going.

I know everyone is as upset with this loss as I am... but this isnt the first time we have not looked good on a Saturday, and lost a game that we could have won.... (BC, Va, WF, NCST...)

WF just outplayed us... out coached us... they deserved the win more than we did.... they wanted the win more than we did...

We have lost our top defensive guy.. top running back... are unsettled at QB... and our offensive and defensive lines are average....

I still fully support Gailey and this team... we are going to have more stinging losses this year... but we will also have some satisfying wins as well...

We lost the game.. I am not happy about it... but its done... Maryland is next ....

Go jackets.

And if we lose, are you going to walk out pointing fingers shouting "I told you so!" ? You might as well, an unfaithful fan before the game is just as dispiriting as one after the game.
