Was our schedule this year the hardest in 50+ years?

I can't think of a year when we played as many ranked teams or teams with the records our opponents had..

ACC sucks this year so no

Clemson FSU and nd......does not equal hardest in 50 years....sorry

No. Duke sucks. We played 2 good teams (FSU, Shame) and one really good one (Clemson). The rest was mediocre (UNC, Shitt) or garbage (Cadavers, Alcorn St, Tulane)

Probably.

I would like for someone to look back and do all the number crunching, but its up there.

Not even last 5 years

Curry's first year (1980) we played n.d., ugag, uf, ut, au,
bama, cu, and a great unc team (LT and his group).

Being in the ACC will, most likely, never result in us playing our toughest schedule ever again; especially when we throw in the elon / mercer / gsu / gard webb / alcorn / Tulane type teams.

Just depends on people's perceptions after the dumbing down.

Auburn losing record that year.
Tennessee losing record that year.
Florida was 8-4
We didn't play CU that year

Notre Dame, AL, NC and Ugag were decent that year though so it's close and and if it was better, it was still 35 years ago...

2010 if we are looking at highest ranking of opponents at any point in season....just as tough

2010 if we are looking at highest ranking of opponents at any point in season....just as tough

rankings and combined records of the opponents..

I looked at 2010.. Miami 7-6, Ugag 6-7, Clemson 6-7..I quit looking after that.. your response is a failure..

So the #1 team in the CFP is just really good, and the #5 is just good?

More likely categories:
Great teams: Clemson/Notre Dame
Really Good: FSU/UNC (UNC is 8-1 with a 5-0 conf record)
Good: Pitt
Mediocre: Duke
Bad but not as bad as GT: Virginia
Even worse that GT: Alcorn St/Tulane

I'm not sure about the schedule but this has been the toughest season to watch in at least 20 years.

Maybe it's just me getting older, but the schedule coupled with the injuries and loss of talent, plus the fact that these kids just don't ever seem to give up makes this season not as bad as some in recent memory. The record is awful, but taking a step back and looking at the quality of the opponent and what we were playing with/without, It's not that bad.

Also, in each loss, we were within a FG or TD except for Clemson and they struggled to beat FSU which we beat. Any of the other losses could have swung either way depending on ref calls. Beating FSU was a major highlight and we're not done yet.
