Was our schedule this year the hardest in 50+ years?

Maybe 1984
Alabama-Bear Bryant still coaching W 16-6
Clemson-William Perry team W 28-21
Tennessee-Phil Fulmer still on top there L 21-24
Auburn-Bo Jackson team L 34-48
Georgia-Vince Dooley still coaching W 35-18

So the #1 team in the CFP is just really good, and the #5 is just good?

More likely categories:
Great teams: Clemson/Notre Dame
Really Good: FSU/UNC (UNC is 8-1 with a 5-0 conf record)
Good: Pitt
Mediocre: Duke
Bad but not as bad as GT: Virginia
Even worse that GT: Alcorn St/Tulane

Notre Dame should have lost to Temple and UVA. They are not a great team.

Clemson is definitely a really good team. Time will tell if they're great or not.

Pitt is garbage. Duke flat-out sucks. UVA is dismal.

We are the third worst team in the ACC, ahead of Syracuse and Wake.

That Murderer's Row of Duke, UNC, Pitt and Virginia was unsurvivable. We should have seen this coming, really...

Welcome to the butt hurt circle jerk.

Computers are the best way to solve pissing matches like this. Pissing contests will always have data points for both sides. Or the people in the pissing contest will just say unsubstantiated things like "the ACC sucks this year, so no." When pushed to substantiate, they just yell louder.

This year, so far at least, we have the 10th ranked schedule in the nation. That's the hardest of any GT team on record at this site, which goes back to around 2004.

For the past 40 years, who knows? What's certain is this schedule so far has been VERY difficult. You're really being dense if you don't think this schedule is difficult. You're particularly dense if you also refuse to acknowledge the number of injuries this team has had.

This. It's a combination of idiots who view any attempt at understanding why we're having such a bad year as making excuses, and idiots who still get a kick out of pretending to be retarded and believing they've reached the master troll tier.

Neither category is really worth arguing with.

The play or two we have needed this season have not been there. Timely block here. A catch there. If we manage to catch the pass on third down near half of the UNC game, we likely go into half up 21-7. It is just little things aren't happening. The Clemson game is really the only one we pretty well didn't have a shot to win. All the others were winnable games that we just didn't have what it took to win.

2014 was a season that had a few of games won on flukey occasional bounces or senior leadership at skill positions making plays. This year we've had a bunch of Freshman learning the ropes and compounding issues. All that said, the above noted gives me hope for next year. These kids with a year of game speed snaps and a more forgiving schedule, and we have a high ceiling next year.

With FSU, Clemson, UGA, Notre Dame plus the division, I believe this was our hardest schedule since we joined the ACC.

As an independent - it was tough to play UGA, Auburn, Tennessee, USC, Clemson and South Carolina in '73, to replace USC with Pitt in '76 when the Panthers won the National Championship and play all the rest, or in the early Curry days to play Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, Auburn, Georgia, Clemson and South Carolina annually.
