Was our schedule this year the hardest in 50+ years?

This schedule was brutal. We knew it before the season, and then it turns out some of the teams on the schedule were better than expected (Clemson #1, ND top 5). FSU would be top 15, maybe top 10, if we hadn't beaten them.

Maybe it's just me getting older, but the schedule coupled with the injuries and loss of talent, plus the fact that these kids just don't ever seem to give up makes this season not as bad as some in recent memory. The record is awful, but taking a step back and looking at the quality of the opponent and what we were playing with/without, It's not that bad.

But feeling that way helps me explain why we'll never be a big time program. Fans at big time programs don't talk themselves into feeling ok about crappy seasons.

They have this year as being our toughest year by their methodology, going back to I guess 2003.

Yeah haha I don't get his reasoning for posting that link. He quantitatively proved himself wrong.

Most fans are idiots.

It's been a pretty tough schedule this year but some of the teams who looked tough have kinda deflated.

I can't think of a year when we played as many ranked teams or teams with the records our opponents had..
Spin it however it makes you feel better. The answer is this team is so bad we would have lost half a dozen games against any schedule we have played in the last 20 years.
